Increased heat stress during cropping season poses significant challenges to rice production, yet the complex stoichiometry between rice grain yield, quality and high daytime, nighttime temperature remains with gaps in current knowledge. We conducted a meta-analysis using a combined dataset of 1105 experiments for daytime temperature and 841 experiments for nighttime temperature from published literature to investigate the effects of high daytime temperature (HDT) and high nighttime temperatures (HNT) on rice yield and its various components (such as panicle number, spikelet number per panicle, seed set rate, grain weight) and grain quality traits (such as milling yield, chalkiness, amylose and protein contents). We established relationships between rice yield, its components, grain quality and the HDT/HNT, and studied phenotypic plasticity of the traits in response to HDT and HNT.

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from integrated urban drainage systems (IUDSs), including sewer, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), and receiving water systems, have not yet been integrated due to the lack of modeling tools. Here, we updated the computable general equilibrium-based System Dynamics and Water Environmental Model (CGE-SyDWEM), a recently developed model simulating the water-energy-carbon nexus at the watershed level, to calculate the direct and indirect (electricity use and external) GHG emissions from IUDSs considering carbon mitigation strategies and water engineering practices. The addition of hollow aluminium oxide bubbles to the 7075 aluminium matrix results in a lightweight syntactic foam with a reduced density and an increased peak compression strength. The presence of ceramic bubbles also aids in a reduced coefficient of thermal expansion and thermal conductivity in comparison to aluminium alloys. Some research suggests that distress, secondary to isolation and fear following COVID-19 infection, can negatively affect the long-term more than the COVID-19 infection itself. This narrative review aims to provide a global view on the neuropsychiatric consequences of COVID-19 that can be ascribed to several factors, ranging from the direct effect of infection, to the body's responses against the infection, or to the psychological sequelae of social isolation, unemployment, and fear for one's health and livelihood. Current findings show that the more severe the respiratory infection, the more likely are central nervous system (CNS) complications regarding the infection itself.
