Assessment of Oral Health-related Quality of Life among Expatriate Working Population, Saudi Arabia: A Cross-sectional Study.

Background: The expatriate workers (foreign workers) come from various countries having different languages, cultures, and tradition to work in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA); here they adopt to local customs, traditions, and work ethics in this new environment. How they perceive their oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) is important for health-care provider for understanding and planning in patient management. The data of expat workers and their OHRQoL in KSA are meager; hence, assessment of OHRQoL among expatriate working population in Al Zulfi, Saudi Arabia was planned.

The Role of Faculty Development in Improving the Quality of Multiple-Choice Questions in Dental Education.

Valid and reliable assessment of students' knowledge and skills is integral to dental education. However, most faculty members receive no formal training on student assessment techniques. The aim of this study was to quantify the value of a professional development program designed to improve the test item-writing skills of dental faculty members.

Hyper Parathyroidisim Jaw Tumor Syndrome: A Rare Condition of Incongruous Features.

Background: Hyperparathyroidism-Jaw Tumor (HPT-JT) syndrome is a rare genetic disorder bearing both a germline and a somatic CDC73 mutation (formerly known as HRPT2), which has been mapped to chromosome 1q25-q31. The association of jaw ossifying fibroma with primary hyperparathyroidisim (PHPT) is typical of HPT-JT. It may also include cystic and neoplastic renal abnormalities and uterine tumors.

Eosinophilic Granuloma in Jaw Bone: A Pare Pediatric Case Report.

Background: Eosinophilic granuloma (EG), one of the three clinical forms of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), is a benign inflammatory reaction to an unknown etiologic agent. It most commonly occurs in children and young adults. The most frequently involved bones are the skull, the ribs and the femurs.

Estimation of plasma lipids and its significance on histopathological grades in oral cancer: Prognostic significance an original research.

Background Objectives: Alterations in the lipid profile have long been associated with various cancers because lipids play a key role in maintenance of cell integrity. This study was to estimate the plasma lipid levels in patients with oral cancer and to correlate the values with the histopathological grades.

Materials And Methods: The study group included 50 patients with oral cancer aged between 20 and 60 years who had visited the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology during the period of September 2005 to July 2007.

Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome.

Binkley and Johnson first reported this syndrome in 1951. But it was in 1960, Gorlin-Goltz established the association of basal cell epithelioma, jaw cyst and bifid ribs, a combination which is now frequently known as Gorlin-Goltz syndrome as well as Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma Syndrome (NBCCS). NBCCS is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with high penetrance and variable expressivity.

Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes or their precursor cells. It is the third most common skin cancer and is one of the most biologically unpredictable neoplasms. Sunlight is an important etiological factor in cutaneous melanoma.

Oculodermal melanocytosis--Nevus of Ota (with palatal pigmentation).

Nevus of Ota is a benign dermal melanocytosis, that involves facial skin as a macular discoloration, appearing as blotchy blue to blue gray. It involves the upper portion of the face, especially over the periorbital area. It also involves ocular structures such as episclera, sclera, conjunctiva, cornea, retina, uveal tract and also nasopharynx, auricular mucosa, tymphanic membrane and dura.

Dens invaginatus is a deep surface invagination of the crown or root that is lined by enamel. It is one of the developmental anomalies affecting the teeth. It commonly affects maxillary lateral incisor, followed by central incisor, premolar, canine and molar tooth.
