In general, sewage sludge obtained from the municipal wastewater treatment plant is one of the significant sources of waste for renewable energy production. In this article, the thermochemical conversion of sewage sludge through a downdraft gasifier is addressed. Two-zone equilibrium and one-zone kinetic model as the hybrid modeling of the sewage sludge gasification is proposed.

Experiments are conducted on a water-cooled single-cylinder constant speed DI (direct injection) diesel engine under same operating circumstances. The results indicates that an enhancement of brake thermal efficiency is up to 3.

This study offered a comprehensive investigation on engine performance and emission characteristics of Kirloskar make tangentially vertical (TV1) model single-cylinder direct injection diesel engine fuelled with diesel as a benchmark fuel. Steam distilled orange oil was converted into orange oil methyl ester (OME) by means of transesterification process. The physical and chemical properties of fuels were measured and conformed to ASTM biodiesel standards and compared with diesel.

In the experimentation, two biodiesel blends were prepared namely B25 (25% neem oil methyl ester with 75% of diesel) and B50 (50% neem oil methyl ester with 50% diesel). Urea-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technique with catalytic converter (CC) was fixed in the exhaust tail pipe of the engine for the reduction of engine exhaust emissions.

They are converted into respective biodiesels namely neem oil methyl ester (B1) and pumpkin seed oil methyl ester (B2) through transesterification process and their physical and chemical properties were examined using ASTM standards. Diesel was used as a baseline fuel in Kirloskar TV1 model direct injection four stroke diesel engine.

The depletion of fossil fuels and hike in crude oil prices were some of the main reasons to explore new alternatives from renewable source of energy. This work presents the impact of various bowl geometries on diesel engine with diesel and biodiesel samples. Three non-edible oils were selected, namely pumpkin seed oil, orange oil and neem oil.
