Use of a delirium escape room is an effective teaching modality that has demonstrated the application of didactic knowledge into clinical practice. Positive comments were shared by all participating nurses. In addition, this learning method was found to be effective for experienced as well as newly licensed nurses.

Many nurse managers transition from proficient bedside nurses to leadership roles without formal leadership training. Their new role moves beyond the bedside of affecting an individual patient outcome to a position where their leadership behaviors, decisions, and actions impact the staff, patients, and families on a unit and organizational level. While new nurse managers are coached and mentored by their director, there is still an opportunity to provide a more standardized and structured approach to ensure optimal development and outcomes.

Objective: Severe hypoglycemia (blood glucose < 50 mg/dl) in hospitalized patients with diabetes mellitus is associated with poor outcomes such as increased mortality and readmission rates. We study the effects of system based interventions in managing severe hypoglycemia and its impact on outcomes.

Research Design And Methods: We performed retrospective review of pre- and post- intervention study to quantify severe hypoglycemia in patients admitted in the general internal medicine wards with primary or secondary diagnosis of diabetes mellitus based on ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.

Objective: To identify the patient safety culture in pediatric emergencies from the perspective of the nursing team.

Method: A quantitative, cross-sectional survey research study with a sample composed of 75 professionals of the nursing team. Data was collected between September and November 2014 in three Pediatric Emergency units by applying the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture instrument.
