The free radical oxidation and antioxidant defense (AOD) systems in the keratinocyte cultures were studied in patients with psoriasis before and after the use of combinations of liposomal preparations. Hyperproliferation of keratinocytes was found to be attended by suppressed lipid peroxidation and high cell antioxidant activity. On the contrary, the liposomal combinations-induced suppression of cell proliferation was characterized by a drastic increase in prooxidant activity in reference to the AOD of epidermal keratinocyte cultures.

The results of this study suggest that PADAM leads to a breakdown of the impulse regime of incretion of a series of hormones, including luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and somatotropic hormones (STH), as well as cortisol and insulin among men of older age groups. These changes accompany the development of metabolic syndrome (X-syndrome); their development can be inversed through androgen-replacement therapy.

It has been shown that the minimum formation of 17beta-oestradiol and 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone occurs at physiological testosterone concentrations. Any deviation of testosterone concentration, both up and down, was accompanied by an increase in the formation of 17beta-oestradiol and 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone.

On demonstrating pre-cancerous changes, this zone can either further accompany or precede the development of malignant neoplasm. The authors have established suppression of general morpho-functional activity of histogematogenous barrier components, increase in degenerative changes in epithelium, both in the vicinity of the tumor, and at a distance from it, which is, most probably, caused by dishormonal changes.

Intensity of lipid peroxidation in the liver, kidney and brain tissues, and functioning of the glutathione system were studied in purebred rats after acute intoxication by 1.1-dimethyl hydrazine at the dose of 104.5 mg/kg of body mass (LD50) and phenyl hydrazine at the dose of 170 mg/kg of body mass (LD50).

HSP72 was detected in probes of the right atria before and after pre-cardiopulmonary bypass in all cases induction of HSP72 was observed in 40% of patients, and directly correlated with the time of cardiopulmonary bypass and standing of the disease.

The levels of reduced glutathion, activity of glutathion peroxidase, and glutathion S-transferase were measured in human peripheral blood mononuclears. The adapted methods permit measurements of glutathion system parameters in immunocompetent cells and can be used in patients with different immunopathological processes.

Statistically significant (p < 0.05) increasing of enzyme activity in tumour, as compared with normal tissue, is shown.
