Purpose: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a prevalent and distressing complication, especially in laparoscopic surgeries. This review compares the efficacy and safety of palonosetron and ondansetron in preventing PONV after laparoscopic surgery.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Cochrane Library to identify comparative studies that reported the efficacy (nausea and vomiting) at three postoperative time points T1 (0-2 hours), T2 (2-6 hours), T3 (6-24 hours) and safety (incidence of adverse effects).

Utility of interactive videogame in allaying preoperative anxiety in pediatric surgical patients - A randomized controlled study.

Introduction: Non-pharmacological distraction using video games (VG) is still under-explored in pediatric surgical patients.

Materials And Methods: We conducted this randomized controlled study of 150 children, aged 4-12 years, scheduled for elective surgery in a tertiary care hospital to estimate the distractive effect of VG on immediate preoperative anxiety in children. In the intervention group (I), playing with VG was encouraged till anesthetic induction.

This case report describes an 85-year-old patient who presented with painless, unilateral right testicular swelling of 2 months' duration. This raised the possibility of testicular cancer, especially given his recent treatment for bladder cancer, which included adjuvant intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) therapy. This poses a diagnostic dilemma regarding tuberculosis (TB) of the testis, BCG complications or a true testicular malignancy.

Background: There is a limited number of studies from India investigating the role of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in treatment-resistant depression (TRD). This clinic-based study reports on the effectiveness of tDCS as an add-on treatment in individuals suffering from TRD.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-six right-handed individuals suffering from major depressive disorder who failed to respond to adequate trials of at least two antidepressant drugs in the current episode received tDCS as an augmenting treatment.

The environmental stability of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers is of great importance for their applications in electronic, photonic, and energy storage devices. In this study, we focus on understanding the susceptibility of WS, WSe, and WTe monolayers to oxygen exposure in the form of atomic oxygen and O and O molecules, respectively. Calculations based on the van der Waals-corrected density functional theory predicted that O and O molecules are weakly adsorbed on these monolayers, although atomic oxygen prefers chemisorption accompanied by a significant charge transfer from the surface to oxygen.

In the laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process, the quality of fabrications is intricately tied to the laser-matter interaction, specifically the formation of the melt pool. This study experimentally examined the intricacies of melt pool characteristics and surface topography across diverse laser powers and speeds via single-track laser scanning on a bare plate and powder bed for 316L stainless steel.
