[Dual inhibition of VEGF-A and angiopoietin-2 in the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema].

The introduction of faricimab, a drug targeting both vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) and angiopoietin-2, has enabled the implementation of the highly effective dual inhibition strategy in real clinical practice for patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME), both previously treated with intravitreal injections and newly diagnosed. This article presents a series of 11 clinical cases involving patients with nAMD and DME who received loading doses of faricimab and continued ophthalmological observation. Among them, three patients with nAMD and two with DME were treatment-naïve, while the others were switched from alternative therapies to faricimab.

[Efficacy and safety of the fixed combination of dorzolamide/timolol (Dorzotimol) in primary open-angle glaucoma].

PLA-PEG Implant as a Drug Delivery System in Glaucoma Surgery: Experimental Study.

Intravitreal drug administration is a procedure that has become widespread in modern ophthalmology. However, there is no global consensus on certain aspects of this manipulation, and practitioners feel the need for guidelines. In the Russian Federation, until now, such a document was not available.

[Current state of ophthalmic tonometry].

Currently, the level of intraocular pressure (IOP) can be assessed with a large number of tonometers, which differ in the principle of action, the place of application and the degree of invasiveness. All the methods in use - except for direct manometry - allow only indirect judgement of the level of ophthalmotonus. The quality of tonometric measurement is influenced by many factors, from the choice of tonometer to the analysis of the results obtained by the doctor.

[Medicated prevention of scarring after glaucoma surgery].

Modulation of wound healing is one of the main challenges in glaucoma surgery. Modern antiproliferative agents used to reduce postoperative scarring are either insufficiently effective or inadequate in terms of safety. In the search for novel agents devoid of such drawbacks, specialists directed their attention to selective inhibitors of proinflammatory cytokines and growth factors.

[Preservative-free fixed combination in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension: the VISIONARY Study (EUPAS22204)].

Unlabelled: Preservative-free fixed combination of 0.0015% Tafluprost and 0.5% Timolol (PF tafluprost/timolol FC) has demonstrated good antihypertensive effect and patient tolerance in randomized controlled clinical trials.

[Influence of treatment adherence on the progression of primary open-angle glaucoma in clinical setting].

Unlabelled: According to various studies, treatment adherence of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma ranges from 5% to 80% and significantly influences the effectiveness of the therapy. Some authors report higher levels of adherence in patients receiving preservative-free medications.

Purpose: To study the influence of treatment adherence in patients receiving preservative-free and preserved medications on the progression of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).

DRUG-FREE MODALITIES OF IRON DEFICIENCY CONDITIONS IN UKRAINE.

The article is devoted to studying the impact of nutritional factors on the occurrence and progression of iron deficiency states (IDS) in young women and developing the main alimentary methods of their prevention.The revealed IDS prevalence among women aged from 16 to 29 years without non-alimentary reasons for the occurrence of iron deficiency is 41.6%, among which latent iron deficiency - 10.

Aptamer-Targeted Plasmonic Photothermal Therapy of Cancer.

Novel nanoscale bioconjugates combining unique plasmonic photothermal properties of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with targeted delivery using cell-specific DNA aptamers have a tremendous potential for medical diagnostics and therapy of many cell-based diseases. In this study, we demonstrate the high anti-cancer activity of aptamer-conjugated, 37-nm spherical gold nanoparticles toward Ehrlich carcinoma in tumor-bearing mice after photothermal treatment. The synthetic anti-tumor aptamers bring the nanoparticles precisely to the desired cells and selectively eliminate cancer cells after the subsequent laser treatment.

[The role of toxininduced autoimmune activity in formation of the endotoxemia during the lead exposure].

Here presented the features of formation of endotoxemia at microsaturnism. Here are the results of the retrospective study of toxininduced autoimmune activity and their role in toxemia depending on the degree of exposure of lead. Investigated the mechanisms of production of toxins and damaging potentials activity, molecular size toxins and parameters of their distribution and accumulation in the blood stream, due to the strength of toxinbearing fractions depending on the degree of microsaturnism.

[Medication assisted activation of unveoscleral outflow of intraocular fluid in glaucoma: pathogenic aspects].

The article provides an overview of the main groups of IOP-lowering drugs which activate uveoscleral outflow in glaucoma and this activation is a key component of mechanism of action of these drugs. The issues related to the change of tone of ciliary muscle and its participation in uveoscleral outflow, and also relationship of accommodation and aqueous flow in glaucoma pathogenesis and possible pharmacological effects of these processes are being discussed.

[Fatty-acid composition of plasma and erythrocyte lipids in patients with metabolic syndrome].

The paper gives the results of a comparative assessment of gas chromatographic analysis of plasma and peripheral erythrocyte lipids in patients with the metabolic syndrome (MS). The established changes in the fatty-acid composition of erythrocyte and plasma lipids in patients with MS substantiate the prospects for using this technique in the diagnosis of lipid metabolic disturbances.
