Atroxlysin is a P-I metalloproteinase and contains 204 residues. Its proteolytic activity towards dimethylcasein is enhanced by Ca2+ but inhibited by EDTA, dithiothreitol, excessive Zn2+ and alpha2-macroglobulin.
