The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway has been identified as one of the predominantly upregulated pathways in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). However, whether targeting the β-catenin pathway will prove effective as a CRPC treatment remains unknown. Polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) is a critical regulator in many cell cycle events, and its level is significantly elevated upon castration of mice carrying xenograft prostate tumors.

ST segment elevation myocardial infarction of a rare aetiology: an unexpected diagnosis.

A 43-year-old man presenting with acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction underwent urgent coronary angiography. During the intervention, the patient was found to have several multiple filling defects with dynamic obstruction in the left coronary circulation. Thrombectomy was performed on distal left anterior descending artery and 2nd diagonal artery lesions with balloon angioplasty, which was unsuccessful.

Validation of the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire in Nepal.

The St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) is a standardized questionnaire for measuring impaired health and perceived well-being in chronic airway disease, but it is not available in the Nepali language. We translated the original SGRQ into Nepali and validated its use in 150 individuals aged 40 to 80 years with and without COPD.

A conceptual framework related to ICT-AT competence development: The theoretical foundations of ENTELIS.

This paper provides an overview of the construction of a conceptual framework regarding ICT-Assistive Technology (ICT-AT) competence development, designed to gain awareness of the elements involved and to facilitate the understanding and exchange among stakeholders of the ENTELIS (European Network for Technology Enhanced Learning in an Inclusive Society) project. The framework was designed based on the basic principles of Activity Theory, which however have been adapted and adjusted to the project's objectives. Hence, it includes a map of actors and other parameters functioning in a person surrounding "ecosystem", and it allows us to understand and map roles, expectations, barriers, as well as to devise solutions to tackle digital divide.

Enterogenous cyst of the small bowel causing intussusception in an adult: Case report and review of literature.

Small bowel intussusception is a rare congenital disease entity, mostly manifesting before the age of two with abdominal pain and acute intestinal obstruction. In adults, colon intussusception is a rare event causing approximately 1% of all acute intestinal obstructions and they can occur idiopathically in adults or due to an intraluminal tumor mass. We report a case of an enterogenous cyst causing intussusception and iron deficiency anemia in an adult treated by surgical excision and resection of the small bowel.

Changes in schemas of patients with severe borderline personality disorder: the Oulu BPD study.

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a relatively common and severe psychiatric disorder that can impair quality of life in many ways. The aim of this study was to determine whether a combined treatment model for BPD patients, utilising major principles from schema-focused therapy (SFT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), could be more effective in relieving early maladaptive schemas of BPD patients, compared to treatment as usual (TAU). This study is a part of the Oulu BPD study conducted at mental health care services run by Oulu city social and health care services.

Daily Sedentary Time and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease: The National FINRISK 2002 Study.

Background: Daily sitting time may be a risk factor for incident cardiovascular disease (CVD); however, this has not yet been extensively studied. Our aim was to study the association of total sitting time with the risk of CVD.

Methods: Participants (n = 4516, free of CVD at baseline) from the National FINRISK 2002 Study were followed for fatal and nonfatal CVD using national registers.

Objectives: Many children in the UK still require dental treatment under general anaesthesia (DGA). Why oral health promotion and prevention, in this cohort of children, has failed is poorly understood. By questioning the parents/carers of children undergoing DGA this study aimed to establish: 1 previous exposure to oral health education and promotion activities; 2 beliefs and behaviours about dental caries and prevention; and 3 what parents perceive useful in preventing dental caries.
