Porous Structural Properties of K or Na-Co Hexacyanoferrates as Efficient Materials for CO Capture.

The stoichiometry of the components of hexacyanoferrate materials affecting their final porosity properties and applications in CO capture is an issue that is rarely studied. In this work, the effect that stoichiometry of all element components and oxidation states of transition metals has on the structures of mesoporous K or Na-cobalt hexacyanoferrates (CoHCFs) and CO removal is reported. A series of CoHCFs model systems are synthesized using the co-precipitation method with varying amounts of Co ions.

Integrating transition readiness assessment into clinical practice: Adaptation of the UNC TRXANSITION index into the Cerner electronic medical record.

Purpose: To describe the process of developing, and evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of, an EMR-based transition readiness assessment.

Design And Methods: A Cerner-based version of the UNC TRANSITION Index was implemented across four pediatric subspecialty clinics: epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease; type 1 diabetes, oncology survivorship. The feasibility was assessed by each's clinic's ability to meet form completion goals and their assessment rate.

Advance Directive Completion Among Black Adults Within a Community-Based Integrated Health Care System.

ObjectivesThe study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of advance directive (AD) completion among Black adults vs non-Hispanic White adults within Kaiser Permanente Northern California integrated health system that includes access to outpatient advance care planning (ACP) specialists and to identify medical services utilization patterns and societal factors that could influence ACP engagement. DesignThe study was carried out through retrospective analysis of electronic health record data of active Kaiser Permanente Northern California members from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017, who were age 55 and older, and represented 572,466 active members, of which 11.7% were Black adults.

More Than Words: Reflections to Build Resilience during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Physicians often forget to reflect or take time to process challenging patient encounters, which can ultimately contribute to burnout. This is even more relevant given the increased stressors on patients, families, and health care providers during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Two resident physicians wrote this commentary to process a difficult experience in the hospital.

Optimal timing for a second ERCP after failure of initial biliary cannulation following precut sphincterotomy: an analysis of experience at two tertiary centers.

Background And Study Aims: Precut sphincterotomy increases the success of deep biliary cannulation, but the method fails at the initial ERCP in 5-12% of cases. Although other invasive strategies are often used to access the bile duct, a second ERCP may be effective and safe. We evaluated the efficacy, safety, and factors related to a second ERCP after failed cannulation using a precut sphincterotomy.
