Background: Everyday challenges and stress negatively affect young people's mental health. Socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with different stressors and different stress-coping mechanisms. Many interventions target youth mental health, but few consider socioeconomic differences in the planning, implementation, or evaluation.

Background: Clinical nursing care is an essential element in pediatric oncology. The body of research interventions targeting pediatric oncology patients and their families has grown in recent years. However, no reviews are currently available on nursing interventions for pediatric oncology.

Comparative efficacy of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for mitigating pain and anxiety associated with venipuncture: a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Venipuncture is one of the most commonly performed medical procedures in paediatric care, but it can also be one of the most painful and distressing experiences for patients. Finding effective strategies to manage pain and fear associated with venipuncture is crucial for improving the paediatric patient experience and promoting positive health outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a combined approach using a topical analgesic cream (TKTX cream) and a distraction technique (Trace Image and Colouring for Kids-Book, TICK-B) in reducing pain intensity and fear levels in children undergoing venipuncture procedures.

Children's participation in the development, use and evaluation of support interventions for children of a parent diagnosed with cancer: a scoping review protocol.

Introduction: At times of parental cancer, children's health and well-being are at risk, which is why interventions to support these children have been developed. When developing such interventions, engagement of the population under study in research is endorsed to enhance relevance of research questions and to enhance uptake and dissemination of the findings. Since no previous review has mapped the ways children participate in the development, use and evaluation of these support interventions, the focus of the upcoming scoping review is to identify gaps in the literature for guidance of future research.

Exploring the relationship between depressive symptoms, problematic smartphone use, and cumulative risk factors in nursing students: A cross sectional study.

Background: No single risk factor is decisive in shaping an individual's healthy development. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between depressive symptoms and a cumulative risk index comprising individual, family, and social variables among nursing students.

Methods: We enrolled 1716 Chinese nursing students from three universities in a paperless survey that assessed a range of individual, family, and social risk factors associated with depressive symptoms.

School children's perceptions about being offered the HPV vaccination - A focus group study.

Aim: There is limited knowledge about the perceptions of HPV vaccination in middle-school children. This qualitative study aimed to explore their views.

Methods: We conducted focus group interviews with children, 10-11 years of age, who had been offered HPV vaccination through the school health services in mid-north Sweden in spring of 2023.

Children's interaction with a dog when having Animal Assisted Activity in paediatric hospital care.

The aim of the study was to investigate the interaction process between child and dog and how it possibly affects children's wellbeing during Animal Assisted Activity. Children have reported negative feelings such as fear and anxiety when being cared for in hospital and various kinds of complementary treatment can alleviate this. Different complementary treatments, including interaction with a dog, can create positive emotions and the treatment has been reported to have both physiological and psychological beneficial effects.

Comparison of trace image colors for kids-book with two active distractions in reducing pain and fear of children during the venipuncture procedure.

This study investigated the effectiveness of trace image and coloring for kids-book (TICK-B), cough trick, and balloon inflation techniques in reducing pain and fear in children during venipuncture. The current study is a prospective, controlled, and randomized trial (RCT). School-aged children who required venipuncture were involved in the study.

Patterns of smartphone usage associated with depressive symptoms in nursing students.

Introduction: Rather than focusing on the activities that the smartphone has been used for, the existing literature frequently focuses on the association between problematic use of smartphone independent of the content of use (self-reported) and depressive symptoms in youth. This study aims to explore patterns of smartphone usage and the association with depressive symptoms in nursing students.

Methods: This cross-sectional study of nursing freshmen ( = 1, 716) was conducted between October and November 2018.

Perceptions of health among school-aged children living in socially vulnerable areas in Sweden.

Introduction: According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, all children have the right to health. Since good health is a decisive factor for children's future, investing in children's health is important, especially children from vulnerable areas. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of health among school-aged children from socially vulnerable areas.

Everyday life during the childhood cancer trajectory-childhood cancer survivors' descriptions of the role of caring support.

Background: Being diagnosed with cancer in childhood often has a direct impact on the child's opportunities to participate in activities and the child's sense of belonging in different life situations. Experiences of illness in youth affect the lives of these individuals in numerous ways and they need pronounced support to regain their normal life after treatment.

Purpose: To illustrate how childhood cancer survivors describe the role of the caring support provided by healthcare professionals at diagnosis and during the cancer trajectory.

Barriers in the School-Based Pan-Gender HPV Vaccination Program in Sweden: Healthcare Providers' Perspective.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines effectively prevent, and can even eliminate, HPV-related cancers. Currently, vaccination rates are suboptimal in the national Swedish school-based vaccination program. School nurses play a key role in all aspects of the vaccination process.

Using ICF to Describe Problems With Functioning in Everyday Life for Children Who Completed Treatment for Brain Tumor: An Analysis Based on Professionals' Documentation.

Children treated for brain tumors often experience persistent problems affecting their activity performance and participation in everyday life, especially in school. Linking these problems to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) classification system can be described as affecting body function, activity performance, and/or participation. Services involved in the everyday life of the child have different focus and goals when meeting the child in context, which advantage the use of ICF to overcome this impediment to follow-up and provide comprehensive support for children who have completed treatment for a brain tumor.

Factors associated with posttraumatic growth among spouses of women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer: A cross-sectional study.

Aim: The aim of this study was to explore the factors that are associated with posttraumatic growth among spouses of women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer.

Design: A cross-sectional descriptive study.

Methods: A convenience sample of 312 spouses of women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer was recruited from two comprehensive hospitals in China, from March 2018 to March 2020.

Effectiveness of art-based distraction in reducing pain and anxiety of hospitalized children during cannulation procedure: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: Peripheral venous cannulation (PIVC) is one of the most common needle procedures associated with the therapies of pediatric patients, which causes pain and anxiety in children. Trace Image and Coloring for Kids-Book (TICK-B) is one of the arts-based interventions to relieve pain and anxiety, but none of the existing studies use the TICK-B to decrease children's pain intensity and anxiety levels during PICV.

The Need for Parental Support for Migrant Parents in Transition Into Sweden: A Perspective.

Migration is a stressful experience and research shows that newly arrived migrants in Sweden suffer from different challenges and struggle to relate to parenting in a new culture that is different from their own. The Swedish Child Health Services (CHS) focuses on promoting health among children, as well as supporting parents in parenting. Although this is a goal, migrant parents participate at lower rates in parental support groups.

Effectiveness of art-based distraction on reducing pediatric patients' pain and anxiety during venipuncture: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: Venipuncture is a common procedure resulting in intense discomfort, anxiety, and pain in children. In this regard, we examined the effectiveness of a simple and practical art-based intervention on pain and anxiety in children who underwent venipuncture procedures.

Method: In this parallel randomized control trial, children aged 6-12 years were randomly allocated to either an intervention or a control group.

The meaning of being a visiting child of a seriously ill parent receiving care at the ICU.

Purpose: Children's visits to the ICU are still restricted, and more focus on the child's own needs and experiences are needed. The aim of this study is to illustrate the meaning of being a visiting child of a seriously ill parent receiving care at the ICU.

Method: A qualitative descriptive design was used, with open-ended interviews with seven children (6-18 years) performed and analysed using a phenomenological research approach.

Child health professionals' experiences of the introduction and successful implementation of rotavirus vaccination in Sweden.

Aim: To explore child health professionals' experiences of the early implementation of the rotavirus vaccination in the two regions that first introduced this vaccination in Sweden.

Methods: A descriptive and repeated cross-sectional study based on a digital study-specific questionnaire with a baseline in 2014 and with a 2-year follow-up in 2016. The study population consisted of nurses and doctors working in child health centres in the health care regions of Stockholm and Jönköping.

Post-traumatic growth and its influencing factors among Chinese women diagnosed with gynecological cancer: A cross-sectional study.

Purpose: The experience of cancer could lead to positive psychological changes following the struggle with diagnosis and treatment. Understanding post-traumatic growth and its influencing factors in women affected by gynecological cancer is essential to enhance their possibility of achieving positive changes. The purpose of this study was to describe the post-traumatic growth level and explore the influencing factors of post-traumatic growth in Chinese women diagnosed with gynecological cancer.

Children's experiences of information, advice and support from healthcare professionals when their parent has a cancer disease - experiences from an oncological outpatient department.

Purpose: This study was carried out in order to evaluate children's experiences after taking part in the pilot clinical intervention "See Me" aimed at supporting children as relatives.

Method: A qualitative explorative design with interviews was chosen, with analyses using an inductive approach. Interviews were conducted with 19 children (9 aged 7-12 years and 10 aged 13-18 years).

Childhood Cancer Survivors: Self-Reported Quality of Life during and after the Cancer Trajectory.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to present how the unique cancer experience in childhood influences young adults' quality of life (QOL).

Methods: Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to code and analyze a study-specific questionnaire (133 items). These data are presented in accordance with a conceptual QOL/health-related QOL model.

Background: Children are more vulnerable than adults to environmental risks. Also, children have little control over their environment. Unlike adults, they may be both unaware of risks and unable to make choices to protect their health.
