Introduction: Angina, myocardial ischemia, and coronary artery physiology in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) are poorly understood. However, coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) with fractional flow reserve from CT (FFR) analysis offers a non-invasive method for evaluation of coronary artery volume to myocardial mass ratio (V/M) that may provide insight into such mechanisms. Thus, we sought to investigate changes in V/M in HCM.

Background: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is characterized by recurrent life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections and aberrant inflammation. Mutations in CYBB cause X-linked CGD and account for 65% to 70% of cases in Western countries.

Objective: We sought to understand the clinical manifestations associated with the X-linked CGD carrier state.

The survival effect in memory refers to the memory enhancement for materials encoded in reference to a survival scenario compared to those encoded in reference to a control scenario or with other encoding strategies. The current study examined whether this effect is well maintained in old age by testing young (ages 18-29) and older adults (ages 65-87) on the survival effect in memory for words encoded in ancestral and/or non-ancestral modern survival scenarios relative to a non-survival control scenario. A pilot study was conducted to select the best matched comparison scenarios based on potential confounding variables, such as valence and arousal.

Severe disseminated is rare while localized, contained disease is common. We report a family with disseminated coccidioidomycosis due to a novel homozygous C186Y mutation in interleukin (IL)-12 receptor β1. This family confirms the centrality of the IL-12/IFN-γ axis to human immunity to spp.
