Objective: Menstrual disorders, pelvic-pain and gynaecological hormonal conditions in women can have a significant impact on quality-of-life. Reliable assessment and monitoring of these intimate conditions is challenging. Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) can be invaluable in providing objective assessment, but no comprehensive PROM assessing all of these conditions and their impact on quality of life is currently available.

Uterine torsion is rare in pregnancy and the cause in most cases is unknown. It is associated with fetal compromise, with perinatal mortality reported to be around 12%. Our case describes an acute torsion, presenting in pregnancy with severe abdominal pain and vomiting with a viable 32-week gestation.

Objective: To determine whether the Ayling Inquiry's recommendations (2004) concerning chaperone policy implementation in acute hospital trusts in England has been implemented.

Methods: A quantitative questionnaire based on the Ayling Inquiry was posted to medical directors of all acute hospital trusts in England during December 2005 to March 2006 to determine whether their trusts had implemented the inquiry's recommendations by 1 December 2005. The same questionnaire was resent between December 2007 and March 2008 to determine whether their trusts had implemented the inquiry's recommendations by 1 December 2007.
