Background And Purpose: Dysfunctional breathing (DB) with or without an underlying medical condition is associated with impaired quality of life. DB-related symptoms can be measured with the 25-item Self Evaluation of Breathing Questionnaire (SEBQ). However, the SEBQ is not available in Danish.

Therefore, we developed a novel intervention, including personalised exercise therapy and self-management support for people with multimorbidity.
Methods: We followed the Medical Research Council framework and conducted one scoping review, five systematic reviews, two registry-based studies, one qualitative interview study and a mixed-methods feasibility study.
Introduction: Persistent pain (PP) and long-term conditions are all associated with psychological well-being. Less is known about their associations with reduced psychological well-being when co-occurring. We investigated how PP and long-term physical and mental conditions relate to psychological well-being when occurring together.

Breathing exercises (BrEX) improve QoL in incompletely controlled mild asthma, but impact in moderate to severe asthma is unknown. To investigate the effectiveness of BrEX as adjuvant treatment on QoL in patients with uncontrolled moderate to severe asthma.

However, PR adherence is generally low, and barriers include availability, economic issues, motivation and an inability to attend or perform physical training. Therefore, alternative, evidence-based PR activities are required.

Unrecognised and/or unmanaged comorbidities often contribute to presence of uncontrolled asthma. Abnormalities in breathing pattern are termed dysfunctional breathing and are not only common in asthma but also lead to asthma-like symptoms and reduced QoL, and, in keeping with this, improvement with breathing normalisation.

The few available large-scale, randomized studies suggest efficacy of physiotherapy on symptom burden. In this article we discuss the current evidence including the need for systematic description of physiotherapeutic interventions.
