Recently in the Russian Federation there has been a significant increase in the number of commissions of forensic medical examinations on «medical cases» associated with inappropriate provision of medical care to the population. The problem of investigating such crimes is one of the most difficult tasks facing law enforcement agencies. A special place among them is occupied by examinations related to maternal mortality.

We found differences in the thermoluminescence (TL) spectra of LL- and HL-acclimated leaves. The LL and HL leaves show different proportions of the Q (~ 0 °C) and B (~ 25-30 °C) bands in their TL spectra; the ratios of the "light sums" of the Q and B bands being S/S ≈ 1/1 (LL) and S/S ≈ 1/3 (HL).

Chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence serves as a sensitive reporter of the functional state of photosynthetic apparatus in chloroplasts. The fluorescence time-course depends on the leaf growth conditions and actinic light quality.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFForensic medical experts are not infrequently faced in their practical work with the question of the possibility of inflicting body injuries by the victim to himself (herself). In such cases, the law-enforcement authorities are in the first place interested not in the possibility of such self-inflicted injuries but rather in the correspondence between the character of the injuries and the circumstances of the event that needs to be objectively established in the course of the forensic medical expertise. The cases of multiple severe self-inflicted injuries in which all the witnesses were one way or another involved in the accident as the participants of the fight with the victim, attract especially close attention and require careful examination.

Aim: Comparative study of antigenic properties of recombinant proteins OsPCgar and OsPCafz and recombinant chimeric polypeptide OspCgar+afrz, that contains amino acid sequences of mature immune dominant OspC proteins of West-Siberian isolates of Borrelia garinii (OspCgar) and B. afzelii (OspCafz), and evaluation of possibility of their use as antigens during creation of test-systems for serodiagnostics of Lyme borreliosis (LB) on the territory of Western Siberia.
Materials And Methods: Recombinant chimeric polypeptide OSpCgar+af, and recombinant mature proteins OSPCgar and OspCafz, obtained by expression of the corresponding genes in Escherichia coli cells; purified by affinity chromatography in Ni-NTA-sepharose CL-6B and studied by EIA method for the ability to bind antibodies from sera of LB patients.
It is shown that the treatment of bean leaves with NaF in concentration of 10(-2) M resulted in the alteration of fluorescent indices registered by the method of pulse fluorimetry. Fluorescent parameters F(0) and F(m) decreased, but the ratio F(v)/F(m) = (F(m) - F(0))/F(m), characterizing the maximal photochemical activity of photosystem II remained invariable. Photochemical fluorescence quenching (qP) was higher than in control during the first minutes of illumination with the actinic light, and it markedly decreased with the following illumination.

Triticale under the treatment of seeds with growth regulators showed higher chlorophyll content, higher productivity and higher indices of the crop yield.

Aim: Obtaining recombinant protein DbpB of West Siberia Borrelia garinii 20047 isolate and evaluation of its antigen activity for the possible use in serodiagnostics of ixodes tick-borne borreliosis (ITB).
Materials And Methods: Coding region of dbpB gene of novosibirsk B. garinii 20047 isolate was amplified by PCR and cloned as part of expressing pETm vector in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) strain cells.
The objective of the present study was to develop the method for the comprehensive objective assessment of the combined injury for the purpose of forensic medical examination. The study material was comprised of the results of forensic medical autopsies of 580 victims of car accidents and falls from a height (303 children and 277 adults). The proposed method for the estimation of the extent of combined injuries is based on taking into account all the discovered injuries expressed as a percentage of their possible total number included in the arbitrary check-list of 110 signs.

At the earlier stage of plant injury, the chlorophyll concentration remained unchanged.

Photosynthetic activity of leaves was assayed by instrumental methods of probing the functional state of photosynthetic apparatus, using electron paramagnetic resonance method for measuring the kinetics of photooxidation of P700 centers, thermoluminescence, and slow induction of chlorophyll fluorescence. It has been shown that kinetic parameters of the induction curves, as measured from the kinetics of photooxidation of P700 and slow induction of chlorophyll fluorescence in dark-adapted leaves, are sensible to variations of plant growing conditions.

The objective of this work was to study the structure and the totality of injuries associated with the fatal combined traumas in the children of different age based on the materials of forensic medical examination of children's corpses (115 original observations and 188 archived cases). The children died as a results of road traffic accidents or a fall from the height. It was shown that the structure of the combined trauma strongly depends on the children's age.

It has been shown that the treatment of bean seedlings with a water extract of Reynoutria sachalinensis increases visible photosynthesis and the activity of dark respiration of plants. The increase in CO2-uptake under relatively high light illumination (10000 1x) correlates with an increase in the fluorescence parameter (F(M) - F(T))/F(T).

The level of environmental pollution and the interaction of environmental factors and weather-climatic ill-being, which vary with time and have regional features, adversely affect the course of SLT and require mandatory correction during complex therapy and seasonal antirecurrent treatment. The increase in the incidence of childhood SLT may be a biological indicator of the environmental ill-being of a region.

We studied fluorescence of 9-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine hydrochloride (tacrine) in the presence of serum cholinesterase. Quenching of tacrine fluorescence dependent on cholinesterase activity has been revealed. A quenching mechanism is proposed; it includes formation of a complex and charge transfer mediated by excited tacrine molecule as well as indole of tryptophan residue from the periphery of cholinesterase active site.

Free-radical oxidations get activated, the activity of catalase slows down and the activity of superoxiddismutase increases in peripheral blood erythrocytes of patients with herpetic keratitis, which is indicative of a changing antioxidant protection in late stages of herpetic infection. The results reveal new chains in the evolution of ophthalmic herpes and confirm the feasibility of adding antioxidants to the complex therapy of patients with herpetic keratitis.

The proposed mathematical model of the light stages of photosynthesis in higher plants takes into account the regulatory process of excitation energy redistribution between photosystems depending on the redox state of electron carriers. Nonmonotonic changes in the intensity of pigment fluorescence upon switching on the excitation light (delayed fluorescence induction) are described. The time required for fluorescence to reach its peak intensity and the degree of fluorescence quenching depending on light intensity are analyzed.
