Aim: This descriptive and cross-sectional study investigated the individual factors that affect procedural pain and discomfort in individuals who had nasopharyngeal swabs by nurses.
Methods: A total of 193 participants in two COVID-19 test centers located in a city in Southeastern Türkiye between April and May 2022 were included in this study. Personal information form was used to collect data.
Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate whether retinal neurovascular structural impairment in children with partial biotinidase deficiency (BD) could be detected early via optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA).
Methods: Eighty patients with partial BD and 80 control cases without any known systemic or ocular diseases were enrolled in this prospective study. Retinal neurovascular structures in the macular and optic disc regions were examined in using OCT and OCTA.
This study aimed to compare the efficacy of percutaneous microwave ablation therapy (MWAT) and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) in early-stage renal cell carcinoma (RCC) classified as T1a; a retrospective analysis was conducted on patients treated between January 2017 and November 2023. Oncological outcomes, radiological recurrence, length of stay (LOS), and costs were evaluated. The study included 110 patients, with no significant differences between the two groups regarding residual tumors, local tumor progression, and disease-free survival rates ( > 0.

Preclinical data showed that concomitant use of antihistamines and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) might increase the effect of ICIs. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of antihistamines on the oncological outcomes of ICIs.

Methods: Between 15 January 2001 and 14 March 2021, a total of 1365 patients had been diagnosed with NAFLD were enrolled in the study.
Results: The median follow-up period was 59.
Objective: Treatment beyond progression (TBP) with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is an evolving field due to the limitations of conventional imaging in response evaluation. However, real-life data on the benefit of TBP is scarce, especially from the limited resource settings and patients treated in the later lines. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the survival benefit of TBP with ICIs in patients with advanced tumors from a limited resource setting.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have started a new era in treating patients with cancer. The effect of comorbidities and concomitant drug use on ICIs have become of interest in those patients. Data about the impact of hyperglycemia on response to ICIs in cancer patients are limited.

Methods: A total of 79 pseudophakic eyes of 57 patients with DME who underwent IVR injection treatment were examined retrospectively. All of the patients were treatment-naive.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to detect early retinal vascular changes with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients without diabetic retinopathy and to evaluate the correlation of the results with carotid intima-media thickness (IMT).
Design: This is a case-control and cross-sectional study.
Methods: This study included 38 adult patients with T1DM, and 38 age and gender-matched healthy controls.
Background: Fatigue is one of the significant problems of post-stroke patients as it causes a decreased quality of life. Although the fatigue impact scale (FIS) is used in stroke, it lacks validation studies.
Objective: This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the FIS in patients with stroke.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to assess the quality of videos on YouTube as educational resources for patients and physicians about blepharoplastic surgery.
Methods: This study is a retrospective and cross-sectional study. A YouTube search for the term "blepharoplasty" was made and the first 210 videos were recorded (all video searches were done by clearing all search history without any user login).
: To evaluate the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with Behçet's syndrome (BS), and to define their associations with the presence of major organ involvement (MOI).: Medical records of 2118 patients (964 males, 1154 females) were analysed retrospectively. MOI was defined as the presence of at least one of vascular, eye, nervous, or gastrointestinal system involvement.

Material And Methods: 27 eyes of the 27 patients who received a single intravitreal dexamethasone implantation dose for diabetic macular edema were enrolled in this study. Sirius topography and EM-3000 specular microscopic examinations were performed at the initial examination (baseline), and then on the first day, during the first week, and 1 month after IDI.

Background: People after stroke have difficulties when they undertaking two tasks simultaneously.
Purposes: To investigate the relationships between dual-task performance and factors such as motor function, balance, cognitive state, and fatigue, to identify factors that have an impact on dual-task performance after a stroke.
Methods: Thirty-seven people with stroke and 38 healthy participants were assessed with 10-m walking test in different performances which were single-task-based, motor dual-task-based and cognitive dual-task-based.
Introduction: Thiol and disulphide levels are biomarkers that provide useful information about oxidative stress and antioxidant capacity, showing a different homoeostasis in inflammatory and proliferative diseases. We aimed to clarify the possible aetiology of this disease by using thiol and disulphide levels in patients with fibromyalgia, the basis of which has not yet been clearly elucidated.
Material And Methods: A total of 156 individuals: 86 patients with fibromyalgia and 70 age-matched controls were included in this prospective non-randomised case-control study.
To evaluate choroidal thickness, ganglion cell complex (GCC) and photoreceptor outer segment (PROS) length were measured in patients with breast cancer undergoing tamoxifen therapy, using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT); results were compared with those for normal eyes. Forty-four patients with breast cancer, undergoing tamoxifen therapy, and 41 healthy controls were included in this prospective, comparative study. All participants underwent a complete ophthalmologic evaluation and SD-OCT.

Objective: Although osteoporosis commonly appears among postmenopausal women, it is rarely diagnosed during the postpartum period as pregnancy-lactation associated osteoporosis (PAO). The aim of the study reported here was to investigate low bone mineral density and its associated risk factors in postpartum women.
Materials And Methods: The sample consisted of 93 females aged 18-40 years and in the first month of the postpartum period.
Conventional electrophysiological (EP) tests may yield ambiguous or false-negative results in some patients with signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Therefore, researchers tend to investigate new parameters to improve the sensitivity and specificity of EP tests. We aimed to investigate the mean and maximum power of the compound muscle action potential (CMAP) as a novel diagnostic parameter, by evaluating diagnosis and classification performance using the supervised Kohonen self-organizing map (SOM) network models.

Methods: This is a medical records review study of 103 RA patients who sustained a remission period for at least 6 months. Clinical features and demographic characteristics of patients, such as laboratory parameters, current number of sensitive and swollen joints, pain level and Patient Global Assessment, previously used medications, and modified Health Assessment Questionnaire, were carefully recorded.
To investigate the intercourse between the platelet/lymphocyte (P/L) and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (N/L), and vitamin D (Vit-D) levels in low bone mineral density (BMD) of women. Methods: Two hundred fifty-two postmenopausal female outpatients who were admitted to the obstetrics and gynecology and physical therapy clinics between July 2016 and December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were grouped in relation to their T-score (normal [n=92], osteopenia [n=112], and PMO [n=48]).
