Background/aim: Meningiomas are one of the most common intracranial tumors, accounting for 30% of the tumors of the central nervous system. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are noncoding RNAs containing approximately 18-22 nucleotides that regulate gene expression by interfering with transcription or inhibiting translation. Recent studies have reported that miRNAs could provide information about the molecular pathogenesis of several types of tumors.

While recording surface electromyography [sEMG], it is possible to record the electrical activities coming from the muscles and transients in the half-cell potential at the electrode-electrolyte interface due to micromovements of the electrode-skin interface. Separating the two sources of electrical activity usually fails due to the overlapping frequency characteristics of the signals. This paper aims to develop a method that detects movement artifacts and suggests a minimization technique.

The Çanakkale-Kirazlı region (Turkey) is enriched with minerals, especially aluminum (Al), which dangerously get transported into aquatic media due to several mining and geological activities in recent years. In this study, Al and other potentially toxic metals (PTMs) including B, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Si, and Zn, in both water and soil samples, were measured for quality determination. Selected metals were also analyzed by the enrichment factor (EF), the geoaccumulation index ( ), the contamination factor (CF), and the pollution load index (PLI) to evaluate both water and soil pollution geogenically or anthropogenically.

Background: Prostate cancer is a cancer with poor host immune response and could be defined as a non-T-cell inflamed tumor. Therefore, immunotherapy treatments could not be included in the treatment of prostate cancer until recently. Inadequate antitumoral response is one of the main reasons why tumor cells multiply rapidly and cause lethal results.

Multiphase flow modeling is often used for the comparison and optimization of subsurface nonaqueous phase liquid (NAPL) remediation schemes. The calibration of such models is a challenging task due to the lack of detailed data describing the initial NAPL spatial distribution and the processes governing the fate and transport of NAPLs in porous media. In this study laboratory scale experiments were conducted to evaluate reagent-enhanced dense nonaqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) solubilization in saturated heterogeneous media.
