Aims: To determine the threshold of plasma glucose levels calculated from the mean+2SDs for diagnosing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Thai women.

Objective: To demonstrate a role of early insulin secretion on plasma glucose levels after different amounts of oral glucose loads in pregnant women.

Material And Method: Forty-one pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance according to the Carpenter and Coustan' s criteria and 25 non-pregnant women (control group) with normal glucose tolerance according to the World Health Organization criteria were enrolled. Each subject was randomly scheduled to perform both the 100-g and 75-g OGTT within a 1-week interval.

Purpose: This study investigated clinical and contraceptive characteristics of a group of southern Thai women who had two consecutive Norplant implantations at Songklanagarind Hospital.

Methods: Seventy reinsertions were performed from 251 original Norplant implantations during the years 1986-1996. Four women had an exposed capsule within 3 months after reinsertion, and two of them subsequently had to have the capsule removed due to infection.
