This study examined the chemical composition, including moisture content, total fat, iodine value, melting point, saponification number, differential scanning calorimetry, fatty acid profiles, and color values (L*, a*, b*), in abdominal (A) and subcutaneous (S) fat of 15-week-old geese from three female varieties: Turkish (Lo), Linda (Li), and Mast (Ma). Results showed significantly higher moisture content in Lo-S compared to abdominal fats (P < 0.05), with consistent fat contents among goose varieties in abdominal fats.

Pro's and con's of different blocks for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery.

Purpose Of Review: Although there are a lot of studies examining the effects of different blocks for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), the results are controversial.

Recent Findings: Paravertebral block, serratus anterior plane block and erector spinae plane block appear to be effective and beneficial for post-VATS analgesia, but probably in different manners.

Summary: All three blocks can be suggested for daily practice, the choice should be based on personal experience and preference of the anesthetist.

ELMO2-related intraosseous vascular malformation: new cases with novel pathogenic variants, clinical follow-up and therapeutic approaches.

Primary intraosseous vascular malformation (VMPI, #606893) is an ultra-rare disorder caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in ELMO2. To date, only six families with pathogenic ELMO2 variants causing a VMPI phenotype have been described. VMPI is characterized by vascular malformations that compress the facial bones, often leading to life-threatening complications, such as massive bleeding and intracranial herniation.

Background: The nociception level (NOL) index is a quantitative parameter derived from physiological signals to measure intraoperative nociception. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate if NOL monitoring reduces intraoperative opioid use compared to conventional therapy (opioid administered at clinician discretion).

Methods: This meta-analysis comprises randomized clinical trials comparing NOL-guided opioid administration to conventional therapy in adult patients undergoing any type of surgery.

Effects of Russian and Aussie Currents Combined With Isokinetic Training on Symptoms, Pain, Functional Mobility, and Quality of Life in Individuals With Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study.

Objective: To find out if burst-modulated medium frequency alternating currents (Russian and Aussie types) contribute to the effects of isokinetic-training in patients with patellofemoral pain, and to compare their effectiveness on symptoms, pain, functional mobility, and quality of life.

Design: Forty-five patients with patellofemoral pain were randomized into Russian current, Aussie current or placebo electrical stimulation groups. Patellofemoral Pain Severity Scale, Stair Climbing Test, Anterior Knee Pain Scale, Knee Outcome Survey Activities of Daily Living Scale, and Short Form-36 data were obtained before and after 15 sessions of interventions and at the end of a 3-wk follow-up period.

In recent years, the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network has observed a shift in racial disparities in autism. To delineate the historical shift of racial disproportionality in US autism prevalence, our literature review examines three key topics: publication trends concerning racial disproportionality in autism, discernible national and state-level patterns, and underlying factors contributing to the disproportionality. Using the PRISMA framework, we synthesized 24 empirical studies on racial disproportionality in autism and its change over time.

Improving the textural and microstructural quality of cow meat by black chokeberry, grape, and hawthorn vinegar-based marination.

This study was designed to investigate the effects of vinegar-based marinades on pH, technological properties, color, microstructure, texture, and sensory characteristics of 9-year-old Holstein meat which had tough texture. To marinate the steaks, three different marinades were prepared depending on the different additions of vinegar: black chokeberry (BV), grape (GV), and hawthorn vinegars (HV). The group with water (without vinegar) was prepared as a control sample (C).

[Infraclavicular block for elbow surgery in a patient with pneumonectomy: Case report].

Diaphragmatic paralysis is one of the most important complications of upper extremity blocks and therefore limits the use of these blocks in patients with impaired respiratory functions. The appropriate block type should be selected by evaluating the location of the surgery and the risks of diaphragmatic paralysis of various blocks. In this case report, we aimed to evaluate the peripheral nerve blocks associated with diaphragmatic paralysis by presenting the anesthesia management of a patient with pneumonectomy planned for elbow arthroplasty due to elbow luxation.

Management of Biliary Complications in Liver Transplant Recipients with Duct-To-Duct Anastomosis: A Single-Center Experience.

Background: The aims of this study were to investigate biliary complications in liver transplant recipients with choledochocholedocho stomy anastomosis, to identify the risk factors for the development of such complications, and to evaluate the success of endoscopic approaches in liver transplant recipients.

Methods: Between January 2013 and May 2021, a total of 238 patients with liver diseases underwent liver transplantation: 174 recipients undergoing choledochocholedochostomy anastomosis were included in the analysis.

Purpose: To analyze the vascular structure of the healthy pediatric population using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), and to investigate its relationship with ocular parameters.

Materials And Method: This cross-sectional, prospective study included 142 eyes of 71 healthy subjects aged 8-18 years. All patients underwent a complete ocular assessment, biometric evaluation and OCTA analysis.
