Background: High-performance polymers are used in different fixed prosthesis treatments due to their many advantages such as biocompatibility, shock absorption ability, high fracture resistance. The effects of marginal design on the forces on high-performance polymers are unknown. This study aimed was to investigate the stress distribution of different marginal designs on Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) substructure materials, cortical bone and cancellous bone by finite element analysis.

This research commences a unit statistical model named power new power function distribution, exhibiting a thorough analysis of its complementary properties. We investigate the advantages of the new model, and some fundamental distributional properties are derived. The study aims to improve insight and application by presenting quantitative and qualitative perceptions.

During the course of this research, we came up with a brand new distribution that is superior; we then presented and analysed the mathematical properties of this distribution; finally, we assessed its fuzzy reliability function. Because the novel distribution provides a number of advantages, like the reality that its cumulative distribution function and probability density function both have a closed form, it is very useful in a wide range of disciplines that are related to data science. One of these fields is machine learning, which is a sub field of data science.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Education: A Meta-Narrative Review.

The rapid and unexpected onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic has generated a great degree of uncertainty about the future of education and has required teachers and students alike to adapt to a new normal to survive in the new educational ecology. Through this experience of the new educational ecology, educators have learned many lessons, including how to navigate through uncertainty by recognizing their strengths and vulnerabilities. In this context, the aim of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the publications covering COVID-19 and education to analyze the impact of the pandemic by applying the data mining and analytics techniques of social network analysis and text-mining.

Flavonoids protect colon against radiation induced colitis.

Radiation induced colitis is one the most common clinical issue for patients receiving radiotherapy. For this reason, we aimed to investigate the effect of antioxidant-effective flavonoids hesperidin and quercetin on the intestinal damage induced by radiation in this study. TNF-alpha, interleukin-10 (IL-10), heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70) and caspase 3, 8, 9 markers of apoptotic pathways were measured in the colon tissues of irradiated acute intestinal damage by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire.

Health literacy is a public health priority which refers to individual's knowledge, motivation and competence to access, understand, appraise and apply health information to prevent disease and promote health in daily life. This study aimed to adapt European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q47) into Turkish and to investigate its psychometric properties. The questionnaire was translated into Turkish by using both group translation and expert opinion methods.

The effects of tadalafil and pentoxifylline on apoptosis and nitric oxide synthase in liver ischemia/reperfusion injury.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of tadalafil (TDF) and pentoxifylline (PTX) on hepatic apoptosis and the expressions of endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthases (eNOS and iNOS) after liver ischemia/reperfusion (IR). Forty Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into five groups (n=8) as follows: sham group; IR group with ischemia/reperfusion alone; low-dose and high-dose TDF groups received 2.5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg TDF, respectively; and PTX group received 40 mg/kg PTX.

Introduction: Alcohol consumption is frequently associated with gastric mucosal lesions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Coenzyme-Q10 (CoQ10) supplementation on the ethanol-induced gastric mucosal damage in a rat model.

[Rectal dexmedetomidine in rats: evaluation of sedative and mucosal effects].

Background And Objectives: In this study, we investigated the anesthetic and mucosal effects of the rectal application of dexmedetomidine to rats.

Methods: Male Wistar albino rats weighing 250-300g were divided into four groups: Group S (n=8) was a sham group that served as a baseline for the normal basal values; Group C (n=8) consisted of rats that received the rectal application of saline alone; Group IPDex (n=8) included rats that received the intraperitoneal application of dexmedetomidine (100μgkg(-1)); and Group RecDex (n=8) included rats that received the rectal application of dexmedetomidine (100μgkg(-1)). For the rectal drug administration, we used 22G intravenous cannulas with the stylets removed.

Fighting obesity campaign in Turkey: evaluation of media campaign efficacy.

Aim: This study aims to determine the frequency of behaviour change and related factors generated in the population through the "Fighting Obesity Campaign" of the Turkish Ministry of Health.

Overexpression of ecotropic viral integration site 1 (EVI1) is associated with aggressive disease in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Despite of its clinical importance, little is known about the mechanism through which EVI1 confers resistance to antileukemic drugs. Here, we show that a human myeloid cell line constitutively overexpressing EVI1 after infection with a retroviral vector (U937_EVI1) was partially resistant to etoposide and daunorubicin as compared to empty vector infected control cells (U937_vec).

Our long-term results of Tenckhoff peritoneal dialysis catheters placement via laparoscopic preperitoneal tunneling technique.

Previously we described the technique to lessen complications of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and to achieve immediate use of the catheter. In this study we evaluated our long-term results of the technique. A total of 61 procedures were carried out in 58 patients from September 2003 to February 2009.

Ectopic viral integration site 1 (EVI1), a transcription factor frequently overexpressed in myeloid neoplasias, has been implicated in the generation of malignancy-associated centrosomal aberrations and chromosomal instability. Here, we sought to investigate the underlying cause of centrosome amplification in EVI1-overexpressing cells. We found that overexpression of EVI1-HA in U2OS cells induced supernumerary centrosomes, which were consistently associated with enlarged nuclei or binuclear cells.

Postoperative adhesions after application of topical hemostatic agents: outcomes in a rat partial nephrectomy model.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether intraabdominal Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS) causes increased intraabdominal adhesion formation and to determine any side effects of ABS in vivo.

Methods: The present experimental study was designed to examine the effects of Ankaferd solution on peritoneal adhesion formation in a rat model of cecal abrasion. Intraperitoneal adhesions were assessed macroscopically and histopathologically on the 10th postoperative day.

Protective value of a folkloric medicinal plant extract against mortality and hemorrhage in a life-threatening renal trauma model.

Objectives: To compare the efficacy of a folkloric medicinal plant extract (Ankaferd Blood Stopper [ABS]) with that of oxidized cellulose (Surgicel) in a life-threatening renal injury model. ABS is a mixture of 5 plants that has historically been used in Turkish traditional medicine. It has been approved by the Ministry of Health to manage external hemorrhage and dental surgery bleeding in Turkey.

Genomic instability and myelodysplasia with monosomy 7 consequent to EVI1 activation after gene therapy for chronic granulomatous disease.

Gene-modified autologous hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) can provide ample clinical benefits to subjects suffering from X-linked chronic granulomatous disease (X-CGD), a rare inherited immunodeficiency characterized by recurrent, often life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. Here we report on the molecular and cellular events observed in two young adults with X-CGD treated by gene therapy in 2004. After the initial resolution of bacterial and fungal infections, both subjects showed silencing of transgene expression due to methylation of the viral promoter, and myelodysplasia with monosomy 7 as a result of insertional activation of ecotropic viral integration site 1 (EVI1).

Biliary cannulation facilitated by endoscopic clip assistance in the setting of intra-diverticular papilla.
