Background And Purpose: This review discusses the role of the nurse practitioner (NP) in evaluating the clinical effects, potential side effects, and monitoring requirements for treatment options in multiple sclerosis (MS) and provides guidance on how to help patients understand these issues.

Methods: A literature search was conducted on PubMed to identify publications on monitoring and disease management of MS patients. Additional resources included drug information web sites and package inserts.
