Pediatric foot deformities are a common finding, concerning up to 44% of preschool aged children. The absence of accepted international guidelines, as well as heterogeneity in definitions and measurements, makes management of pediatric flatfoot a challenge, and decisions surrounding specialized care referral confusing and biased. The objective of this narrative review is to provide guidance to primary care physicians treating these patients.

In this setting, some physicians and hospitals recommend against or prohibit breastfeeding when marijuana use is detected during pregnancy. However, breastfeeding is beneficial for infants and women, and stigmatization of substance use in pregnancy has been historically linked to punitive approaches with a disproportionate impact on minority populations.
