Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how different anesthesia methods and perioperative procedures affect mortality in older patients undergoing hip fracture surgery.
  • Analysis of data from 451 patients revealed no significant difference in mortality rates based on anesthesia methods used.
  • Key factors associated with increased mortality included being male, receiving more blood transfusions, having a higher ASA score, and having a higher modified Charlson comorbidity index.

Article Synopsis
  • * Patients undergoing surgery for DDH were grouped based on different factors like age and family history, with the research focusing on the histological features and the presence of specific proteins (MMP-2, MMP-9, and ADAMTS-7).
  • * Findings show that the ligamentum teres has signs of moderate inflammation and other changes, and that the levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, and ADAMTS-7 are positively linked to these tissue changes

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the effectiveness of local massage, corticosteroid injections, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) on patients with lateral epicondylitis (LE).
  • 52 patients were randomly assigned to one of the three treatment groups and assessed using various clinical scoring systems at multiple follow-up points over six months.
  • Results indicated that ESWT provided the best long-term outcomes, while corticosteroid injections showed worsening effects over time, suggesting a need for further research on combined treatment approaches.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates changes in vascular flow characteristics in clubfoot after Ponseti treatment, using resistive index (RI) and peak systolic velocity (PSV) as key parameters measured by Color Doppler ultrasonography (CDU).
  • In a sample of 34 feet from 24 patients, it was found that RI values were lower and PSV values higher in normal control feet compared to those with clubfoot; only the dorsalis pedis artery showed significant improvement post-treatment.
  • The research concluded that while clubfoot patients had vascular pathology, treatment can enhance vascular development, yet initial deformity severity did not correlate with RI or PSV changes, and overall prognosis from vascular flow changes remained unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to compare the prevalence of shoulder lesions and treatment outcomes in patients with primary versus recurrent anterior shoulder instability.
  • A total of 340 patients (average age 25.6 years) underwent arthroscopic surgery, showing that those with recurrent instability had significantly higher rates of ALPSA lesions compared to those with primary instability.
  • Both groups showed significant improvements in shoulder function after surgery, but there were no notable differences in postoperative pain or overall shoulder scores between the two groups.

INTRODUCTıON: It is estimated that 5-30% of traumatic anterior shoulder dislocations are accompanied by greater tuberosity fracture (GTF), and the pathomechanism of these fractures is not yet clear. Our hypothesis is to examine the relationship between the scapula morphology and anterior shoulder dislocation (ASD) accompanying GTF. MATERıALS AND METHODS: The patients were divided into two groups according to the accompanying GTF.

We aimed to present our anesthetic management for an ultrasound-guided (USG) interscalene block in the presence of a new brachial plexus variation in a 59-year-old male patient underwent shoulder arthroscopy. An accessory muscle between the anterior scalene (ASM) and middle scalene muscle (MSM) was viewed via ultrasound. When four roots that the accessory muscle separated into two groups, which should be normally present between the ASM and MSM were displayed, we decided to use nerve stimulator to perform block.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to explore whether the commonly accepted causes of idiopathic subscapularis tears hold true when compared to the unaffected shoulder of patients who had surgery for this condition.
  • Sixteen patients were analyzed, measuring various anatomical distances and ligament conditions through MRI and during arthroscopic procedures.
  • The findings showed no significant differences in the measured shoulder parameters between the injured and healthy shoulders, but notable degeneration of the coracoacromial ligament was observed in 75% of patients, suggesting a potential link to subacromial impingement.

This study aims to evaluate the physical properties of Cention N and various glass-ionomer-based materials in vitro. The groups were obtained as follows: Group 1 (LC-Cent): light-cured Cention N; Group 2 (SC-Cent): self-cured Cention N; Group 3 (COMP): composite (3M Universal Restorative 200); Group 4 (DYRA): compomer (Dyract XP); Group 5 (LINER): Glass Liner; Group 6 (FUJI): FujiII LC Capsule; and Group 7 (NOVA): Nova Glass LC. For the microtensile bond strength (μTBS) test, 21 extracted human molar teeth were used.

This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiation and adhesive systems on the microtensile bond strength of Fusio Liquid Dentin (FLD) which is a self-adhering composite (SAC). Twenty-four freshly extracted human molar teeth were collected, and the enamel was removed from the occlusal surface to obtain a flat dentin surface. Twenty-four teeth were randomly divided into eight groups: Group 1: only Fusio Liquid Dentin (FLD) (Petron Clinical, Orange, California, USA) was applied to the dentin surface; Group 2: 37% Phosphoricacid (i-GEL, Medicinos Linija UAB, Lithuania) + FLD; Group 3: Single Bond Universal (SBU) (3 M ESPE, Germany) + FLD; Group 4: Adper Easy One (AEO) (3 M ESPE, Germany) + FLD; Group 5: Er:YAG laser + AEO + FLD; Group 6: Er:YAG laser + SBU + FLD; Group 7: Er,Cr:YSGG laser + AEO + FLD; and Group 8: Er,Cr:YSGG laser + SBU + FLD.

Background: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of preoperative conservative treatment on the success of high-grade bursal/articular-sided partial rotator cuff repair.

Methods: Patients who had undergone shoulder arthroscopy in institution for Ellman Stage 3 bursal-side or articular-side partial tears between January 2008 and April 2018 were investigated retrospectively. Background: Although middle glenohumeral ligament (MGHL) variations have been shown in the literature, their clinical effect and relationship with intra-articular pathologies have yet to be revealed, except for the Buford complex. This study was designed to classify MGHL and to reveal its relationship with clinical pathologies.

Methods: A total of 843 consecutive shoulder arthroscopies were evaluated retrospectively, and a classification system was proposed for MGHL with regard to its structure and its relation to the anterior labrum.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is one of the most important complications after closed reduction and spica cast application in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) treatment. This study aims to put forth the impact of closed reduction age and other factors which can cause AVN. Inclusion criteria of the study were: closed reduction and spica cast application before walking age (12 months) and minimum 2 years duration of follow-up.

Hip ultrasonography applied according to Graf's criteria is frequently used in early diagnosis and monitoring of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Recently, the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) classification has been proposed to be a prognostic indicator for patients with walking-age DDH. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability of IHDI classification in the follow-up of patients with DDH diagnosed by ultrasonography scanning.
