We introduce a novel method for an automatic classification of subjects to those with or without neuromuscular disorders. This method is based on multiscale entropy of recorded surface electromyograms (sEMGs) and support vector classification. The method was evaluated on a single-channel experimental sEMGs recorded from biceps brachii muscle of nine healthy subjects, nine subjects with muscular and nine subjects with neuronal disorders, at 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 100% of maximal voluntary contraction force.

In a multi-centre study more than 600 patient measurements of patients receiving thorax radiography were performed in five European cities. Participating centres were Fulda, Liverpool, Nicosia, Passau and Sofia. The dose quantities measured were the air kerma-area product (AKAP), incident air kerma and entrance surface air kerma (ESAK).

Quality control (QC) is becoming increasingly important in relation to the introduction of digital medical imaging systems using X rays. It was, therefore, decided to organise and perform a trial on image quality and physical measurements. The SENTINEL toolkit for QC measurements of fluoroscopy systems containing equipment and instructions for their use in the assessment of dose and image quality circulated among participants in the trial.

The implementation of an X-ray Quality Assurance (QA) program is a legal requirement in Europe as stipulated in the EU Council Directive 97/43/EURATOM (MED). A review of the literature has identified that European countries are performing some level of QA testing of their dental X-ray equipment, although the type and level to which testing is performed can differ. The European SENTINEL co-ordination action proposed to collate a survey of equipment data for both conventional and digital dental X-ray installations among the SENTINEL partners.

The objective of this study was to compute reference SEMG values for normal subjects of 13 parameters extracted in the time, frequency and bispectrum domain, from the Biceps Brachii (BB) muscle generated under isometric voluntary contraction (IVC).
