Background: Delayed operative fixation of acetabular fractures remains a major problem in many parts of the world. No previous studies have reported the effect of fixation delay on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). We aimed to investigate the effect of delayed operative fixation of acetabular fractures on health-related quality of life, EuroQol-5 Dimension questionnaire (EQ-5D), and other related outcomes.

Development and Validation of Two-Step Prediction Models for Postoperative Bedridden Status in Geriatric Intertrochanteric Hip Fractures.

Patients with intertrochanteric hip fractures are at an elevated risk of becoming bedridden compared with those with intraarticular hip fractures. Accurate risk assessments can help clinicians select postoperative rehabilitation strategies to mitigate the risk of bedridden status. This study aimed to develop a two-step prediction model to predict bedridden status at 3 months postoperatively: one model (first step) for prediction at the time of admission to help dictate postoperative rehabilitation plans; and another (second step) for prediction at the time before discharge to determine appropriate discharge destinations and home rehabilitation programs.

Silent iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm after intertrochanteric fracture fixation with proximal femoral nailing and cerclage wiring: case report and review of literature.

Pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication after intertrochanteric fracture fixation. Herein, we present a rare case of late development of a pseudoaneurysm with silent clinical symptoms. The case was a 91-year-old woman treated with proximal femoral nailing and cerclage wiring.

EFFICACY OF EXTENDED ORAL TRANEXAMIC ACID ON BLOOD LOSS IN PRIMARY TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY.

Introduction: Tranexamic acid is widely used for patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, the duration of systemic tranexamic acid (TXA) administration varies in many reports. Hence, this study aims to compare blood loss between a single intravenous (IV) TXA dose, and one dose of IV TXA combined with oral TXA, during 48-hour postoperative care in primary TKA.

The claims are decreased wound closure time, less tissue reaction, and lack of stitch marks. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of closure using adhesive strips versus running subcuticular stitches.
