is a plant belonging to the Moraceae family. This study aimed to profile the functional groups using FTIR, as well as nutritional, elements using ICP-MS technique, and anti-nutritional analyses of leaves. The results of nutritional analysis of leaves revealed that the leaves had a diverse proximate composition with derived nutritional value to be 314.

Background: The Randomized Evaluation of Decision Support Interventions for Atrial Fibrillation (RED-AF) trial is a multi-site, randomized controlled clinical trial examining the effectiveness of a patient decision aid and an encounter decision aid in promoting shared decision-making (SDM) during a clinical encounter for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We sought to describe baseline characteristics of patients and clinicians in the trial and compare them to the demographics of the larger AF population. We also conducted an analysis of possible predictors of attrition rates at baseline, 6 and 12 months.

Wild fruits play a vital role in the diets and economic well-being of tribal communities of Uttarakhand, India. Despite their significance, there is limited information on some of the wild species such as and . This research aimed to analyse the nutritional potential, anti-nutritional compositions, mineral composition, antioxidant and finally the phytochemical properties of fruits to ascertain their medicinal and nutritional significance.

Ficus drupacea is a medicinal tree found in temperate regions. Various parts of this plant had been used traditionally for the treatment of various ailments such as root powder applied externally for skin infections. Analysis was carried out on the bioactive lipids extracted from Ficus drupacea fruit using both petroleum-based solvent (Hexane) and an environmentally friendly solvent Dimethyl carbonate (DMC).

Article Synopsis
  • Decision aids (DAs) have been developed to help patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) make informed choices about stroke prevention, specifically through an encounter DA (EDA) and a patient DA (PDA) that have not previously been used together.
  • The development of these DAs involved iterative user-centered design, gathering feedback from both patients and experts to refine their effectiveness, resulting in significant improvements based on user needs.
  • While successful in enhancing shared decision making, the DAs are limited to online use and focus solely on anticoagulation options, which could potentially exclude those less familiar with technology.

Image relighting, which involves modifying the lighting conditions while preserving the visual content, is fundamental to computer vision. This study introduced a bi-modal lightweight deep learning model for depth-guided relighting. The model utilizes the Res2Net Squeezed block's ability to capture long-range dependencies and to enhance feature representation for both the input image and its corresponding depth map.

Introduction: Since the 1999 Institute of Medicine report, hospitals have implemented a myriad of measures to protect patients from medical errors. At this point, looking beyond errors may bring additional safety benefits. This study aims to analyze predictors of in-hospital death regardless of underlying diagnoses in an effort to identify additional targets for improvement.

Background: Shared decision making (SDM) improves the likelihood that patients will receive care in a manner consistent with their priorities. To facilitate SDM, decision aids (DA) are commonly used, both to prepare a patient before their clinician visit, as well as to facilitate discussion during the visit. However, the relative efficacy of patient-focused or encounter-based DAs on SDM and patient outcomes remains largely unknown.

Background: Problem lists represent an integral component of high-quality care. However, they are often inaccurate and incomplete. We studied the effects of alerts integrated into the inpatient and outpatient computerized provider order entry systems to assist in adding problems to the problem list when ordering medications that lacked a corresponding indication.

Spiro-epoxy/aziridine oxindole frameworks are considered as an efficient structural toolbox to obtain C3-functionalised oxindole derivatives. These 3,3'-spiro-cyclic precursors are highly susceptible towards nucleophiles owing to their inherent ring strain. Their versatile reactivity has opened many potential synthetic transformations, allowing access to bioactive molecules as well as natural products.

Cardiac scintigraphy has emerged as a key diagnostic test for transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA). However, there are potential limitations and pitfalls in the interpretation of cardiac scintigraphy for ATTR-CA that are worth noting. We present here a series of three cases which illustrate some of these important principles.

IFNG (interferon gamma)-induced autophagy plays an important role in the elimination of intracellular pathogens, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). However, the signaling cascade that leads to the increase in autophagy flux in response to IFNG is poorly defined. Here, we demonstrate that HMOX1 (heme oxygenase 1)-generated carbon monoxide (CO) is required for the induction of autophagy and killing of Mtb residing in macrophages in response to immunomodulation by IFNG.

Background: Treatment decisions in asthma are currently based on clinical assessment and spirometry. Sputum eosinophil, being a marker of airway inflammation, can serve as a tool for assessing severity and response to treatment in asthma patients.

Objectives: To measure eosinophil percentage in induced sputum in children with asthma and correlate it with clinical asthma parameters.

Objective: Using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) as an example quality improvement approach, our objective was to evaluate whether secondary use of orders, forms, and notes recorded by the electronic health record (EHR) during daily practice can enhance the accuracy of process maps used to guide improvement. We examined discrepancies between expected and observed activities and individuals involved in a high-risk process and devised diagnostic measures for understanding discrepancies that may be used to inform quality improvement planning.

Methods: Inpatient cardiology unit staff developed a process map of discharge from the unit.

In patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), beta-blockers (BB) are assumed to slow ascending aorta (AAo) dilation by reducing wall shear stress (WSS) on the aneurysmal segment. The aim of this study was to assess differences in AAo peak velocity and WSS in BAV patients with and without BB therapy. BAV patients receiving BB (BB+, n = 30, age: 47 ± 11 years) or not on BB (BB-, n = 30, age: 46 ± 13 years) and healthy controls (n = 15, age: 43 ± 11 years) underwent 4D flow MRI for the assessment of in vivo aortic 3D blood flow.

Background: Aortic 3-dimensional blood flow was analyzed to investigate altered ascending aorta (AAo) hemodynamics in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) patients and its association with differences in cusp fusion patterns (right-left, RL versus right-noncoronary, RN) and expression of aortopathy.

Methods And Results: Four-dimensional flow MRI measured in vivo 3-dimensional blood flow in the aorta of 75 subjects: BAV patients with aortic dilatation stratified by leaflet fusion pattern (n=15 RL-BAV, mid AAo diameter=39.9±4.

Limited data have suggested that an "obesity paradox" exists for mortality and cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. Much less is known about the role of the preoperative body mass index (BMI) in patients undergoing valve surgery. We evaluated 2,640 consecutive patients who underwent valve surgery between April 2004 and March 2011.

Tuberculosis epidemics have defied constraint despite the availability of effective treatment for the past half-century. Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of TB, is continually exposed to a number of redox stressors during its pathogenic cycle. The mechanisms used by Mtb to sense redox stress and to maintain redox homeostasis are central to the success of Mtb as a pathogen.

Objective: Early readmission in patients hospitalized for medical congestive heart failure is common, expensive, and associated with a worse late survival. Our objective was to compare late survival in patients' readmission for congestive heart failure with readmission for other causes in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Methods: Of 3654 consecutive patients undergoing cardiac surgery at a single institution between April 2004 and June 2010, 3492 (96%) were discharged from the hospital before 30 days and analyzed.
