Article Synopsis
  • Cranial vault remodeling (CVR) is commonly used to treat sagittal craniosynostosis, but some methods can result in significant bone defects.
  • A study analyzed early postoperative CT scans to assess bone regeneration in different regions of the skull, revealing a median bone reformation percentage of 56.7% across cranial defects.
  • The occipital area showed the highest reosteogenesis, while lambdoid sutures had a greater likelihood of reformation compared to coronal sutures after their removal.

This study aims to measure postoperative bone reformation percentage, rates and patterns after cranial vault remodelling (CVR) in isolated non-syndromic sagittal craniosynostosis. Volumetric bone measurements were performed starting from the DICOM files of previously available postoperative CT scans. The 3D images were then resampled into the master box, and 'Skull 3D models' were derived.

Unlabelled: Complex orbital fractures, including orbital rims and walls, require precise reconstruction. A titanium-based patient-specific implant (PSI) benefits over other implants when challenged with narrow surgical space and designable implant fixation point.

Methods: This is a prospective noncomparative case series to evaluate the effect of complex orbital reconstruction using the newly designed lateral fixation patient-specific implant.
