Unlabelled: Hepatitis B viral (HBV) persistent infection plays a significant role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumorigenesis. Many studies have revealed the pivotal roles of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) in multiple cancers, while the regulatory mechanism in stemness maintenance of HBV persistent infection-related HCC remains elusive. Here, we demonstrated that the level of m6A modification was downregulated by HBV in HBV-positive HCC, through enhanced stability of ALKBH5 mRNA.

Understanding the immunological characteristics of monocytes-including the characteristics associated with fibrosis-in severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is crucial for understanding the pathogenic mechanism of the disease and preventing disease severity. In this study, we performed single-cell transcriptomic sequencing of peripheral blood samples collected from six healthy controls and 14 COVID-19 samples including severe, moderate, and convalescent samples from three severely/critically ill and four moderately ill patients. We found that the monocytes were strongly remodeled in the severely/critically ill patients with COVID-19, with an increased proportion of monocytes and seriously reduced diversity.

Noninvasive stool-based DNA methylation testing emerges as a new approach for detecting colorectal cancer (CRC). Long-term field and modeling studies were performed to measure and predict occurrence, accumulation, attenuation and priority of typical antibiotics in sediments of the Dagu River in China. The results indicated that the concentrations of antibiotics ranged from lower than the limit of detection to 12.4mg/kg, depending on the accumulation time of these antibiotics in sediments.
