Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how bed-cleaning sludge (BCS) from shrimp ponds affects the physiology of Kandelia obovata seedlings in mangrove forests.
  • As sediment coverage thickness (SCT) increased from 0 to 8 cm, photosynthesis and related processes declined, particularly at 8 cm, while key physiological stress indicators worsened at 4 cm.
  • The findings suggest that SCT levels below 4 cm are better for seedling health, while thicker sediments (up to 8 cm) introduce stress factors affecting growth and nutrition.

Introduction: The prognosis of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) (very high risk) is poor.HLA-mismatched allogeneic T-cell infusion which is called micro-transplantation can not only shorten the time of bone marrow suppression, but also improve the treatment response of patients.

Case Presentation: A 74-year-old woman presented with fatigue and showed pancytopenia on routine blood count.

Microbial degradation of dyes is vital to understanding the fate of dyes in the environment. In this study, a fungal strain A-3 and a bacterial strain L-6, which were identified as and , respectively, had been proven to efficiently degrade crystal violet (CV) dye. The decolorization of CV dye by fungal and bacterial cocultivation was investigated.

Objective: This study investigated the feasibility and effectiveness of preoperative electroacupuncture (EA), given within 30 minutes before surgery, on postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction (PGD) in patients undergoing open gastrectomy.

Materials And Methods: Patients ( = 60) undergoing open gastrectomy were allocated randomly to a usual care (UC) group ( = 30) or an EA group ( = 30). Patients in the EA group were given bilateral EA on ST-36 (), ST-37 (), and ST-39 () within 30 minutes before the surgery.

In this study, a ligninolytic enzyme-producing strain F5 was isolated and identified as Bacillus thuringiensis, which can efficiently degrade methylene blue (MB) dye. The optimal pH, temperature, rotation speed, NaCl concentration, and inoculum of strain F5 for MB degradation were pH 6.0, 30 °C, 140 rpm, 10 g/L NaCl, 4% inoculum (v/v), and the strain F5 had salt tolerance, the MB decolorization rate reached 95% after 12 h.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of standard or low-dose chemotherapy followed by HLA-mismatched allogeneic T-cell infusion (allo-TLI) for the treatment of elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and patients with intermediate-2 to high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

Methods: We carried out a prospective, multicenter, single-arm clinical trial. Totally of 25 patients were enrolled, including 17 AML patients and 8 MDS patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on creating self-immobilized mycelial pellets through co-culturing to assess their ability to decolorize Congo red (CR), achieving a high efficiency of 99.22%.
  • Co-cultured pellets outperformed individual cultures, and various characterization methods like SEM and FTIR were used to analyze their properties.
  • The findings suggest that mycelial pellets are effective biosorbents for removing CR from wastewater, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 316.46 mg/g, indicating a sustainable method for treating contaminated water.
