Neutrophils release neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), a reticular structure mainly composed of antimicrobial peptides, DNA, and histones. Neutrophil elastase (NE), matrix metalloproteinase- 9, and histone G are the key components of NETs critically involved in breast cancer invasion and migration, which suggests an important role of NETs in tumorigenesis and metastasis. Studies have reported that NETs significantly promote breast cancer invasion, intravascular infiltration, and distant metastasis by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), remodeling the extracellular matrix, and modulating the immune microenvironment.

The effective removal of radioactive iodine under harsh high-temperature conditions, akin to those encountered in real spent nuclear fuel reprocessing, remains a formidable challenge. Herein, a novel bismuth-based mesoporous silica nanoreactor with a distinctive hollow yolk-shell structure was successfully synthesized by using silica-coated BiO as a hard template and alkaline organic ammonia for etching (Bi@HMS-1, HMS = hollow mesoporous silica). In contrast to conventional inorganic alkali-assisted methods with organic template agents, our approach yielded a material with thinner and more disordered shell layers, along with a relatively smaller pore volume.

Exposure to carbon disulfide (CS) is a recognized risk factor in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease, yet the underlying mechanisms of deleterious effects on mitochondrial integrity have remained elusive. Here, through establishing CS exposure models in rat and SH-SY5Y cells, we demonstrated that highly expressed α-synuclein (α-Syn) is transferred to mitochondria via membrane proteins such as Tom20 and leads to mitochondrial dysfunction and mitochondrial oxidative stress, which ultimately causes neuronal injury. We first found significant mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress in CS-exposed rat midbrain and SH-SY5Y cells and showed that mitochondrial oxidative stress was the main factor of mitochondrial damage by Mitoquinone intervention.

Cell-free RNAs (cfRNAs) offer an opportunity to detect diseases from a transcriptomic perspective, however, existing techniques have fallen short in generating a comprehensive cell-free transcriptome profile. We develop a sensitive library preparation method that is robust down to 100 µl input plasma to analyze cfRNAs independent of their 5'-end modifications.
