Spontaneous acute epidural hematoma (AEDH) co-occurring with metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) of the skull is rare, with only 7 documented cases in existing literature. This report describes the case of a 42-year-old man who presented with decreased consciousness following intermittent headaches following minor head trauma. Computed tomography imaging revealed an AEDH, prompting surgical intervention.

While air filters are generally effective in filtering pollutants such as dust, they encounter a challenge when filtering harmful microorganisms such as mites, bacteria, mold, and viruses. These microorganisms, which are present in public transport and public indoor spaces, tend to proliferate on the surface of the filter media, eventually reintroducing themselves into the air or causing unpleasant odors.

Patients were administered a median of 5.

We aimed to investigate clinical features, endoscopic and histopathologic findings in IEI patients. This was a retrospective cohort study conducted from 1995 to 2020.

Objectives: Assess outcomes of procedure and describe our methodology and clinical application.
Purpose: To investigate the effect of combined inhibition of protein kinase B (AKT) and SRC on the growth and metastatic potential of human pancreatic cancer cells.
Materials And Methods: AKT and SRC were inhibited using 10-DEBC and PP2, respectively. The expression of their messenger RNAs were down-regulated by specific small interfering RNA (siRNA).
Graphene oxides possess unique physicochemical properties with important potential applications in electronics, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. However, the toxicity following inhalation exposure to graphene oxide has not yet been clarified. Therefore, this study conducted a short-term graphene oxide inhalation toxicity analysis using a nose-only inhalation exposure system and male Sprague-Dawley rats.

Methods: This was a retrospective observational longitudinal study of patients presenting at the Pusan National University Hospital. A total of 349 patients with T2DM and preserved kidney function (estimated glomerular filtration rate ≥ 60 mL/min/1.

Aim: The present study was performed to assess variability in glycated albumin (GA) using a coefficient of variation (CV) to predict the progression of diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients, independently of HbA1c and other conventional risk factors.
Methods: The present study consecutively enrolled 369 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from outpatient clinic. During the follow-up period, GA and HbA1c levels were measured repeatedly (≥5 times), and the CV of GA (GA-CV) was calculated for each patient.
Background: Prenatal maternal diet may influence disease susceptibility in offspring with specific genetic backgrounds. We hypothesized that interactions between prenatal antioxidant intake and polymorphisms in immunity genes influence respiratory tract infection (RTI) susceptibility in infants at 12 months of age.
Methods: This study included 550 infants.
Background: Several inflammatory biomarkers, especially a high preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte count ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte count ratio (PLR), are known to be indicator of poor prognosis in several cancers. However, very few studies have evaluated the significance of the NLR and PLR in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). We evaluated the association of the preoperative NLR and PLR with clinicopathological characteristics in patients with PTC.

To estimate the potential emission of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and potential exposure of workers, personal sampling, area monitoring, and real-time monitoring using an scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) and dust monitor were conducted at workplaces where the workers manufactured CNTs. The personal and area sampling of the total suspended particulate (TSP) at the MWCNT manufacturing facilities ranged from 0.

However, few physical examination tests for LS and LI have been reported. In the study described herein, new physical examination tests for LS and LI were devised and evaluated for their validity.

This study aimed to elucidate the interaction between perinatal anxiety and polymorphisms in antioxidant defense and innate immunity genes on the development of respiratory tract infections (RTIs) during early infancy.
Methods: Trait anxiety levels in 440 women were assessed by the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory during late gestation.
Despite their useful physico-chemical properties, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) continue to cause concern over occupational and human health due to their structural similarity to asbestos. Thus, to evaluate the toxic and genotoxic effect of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on lung cells in vivo, eight-week-old rats were divided into four groups (each group = 25 animals), a fresh air control (0 mg/m(3)), low (0.17 mg/m(3)), middle (0.

Soybean 2S protein was extracted and enzymatic hydrolysis was performed using pepsin and chymotrypsin. Allergenicity was observed using soybean-sensitive patients' sera.

Aims: We aimed to investigate the effect of prenatal depression on low birth weight, gestational age, and weight for gestational age at term.

Previous studies suggest that maternal characteristics may be associated with neonatal outcomes. However, the influence of maternal characteristics on birth weight (BW) has not been adequately determined in Korean populations. We investigated associations between maternal characteristics and BW in a sample of 813 Korean women living in the Seoul metropolitan area, Korea recruited using data from the prospective hospital-based COhort for Childhood Origin of Asthma and allergic diseases (COCOA) between 2007 and 2011.

Purpose: Less morbidity is the major advantage to a one-stage crestal approach to maxillary sinus elevation. However, the ability to ensure high primary implant stability in a severely atrophied ridge is of chief concern. The purpose of this study is to measure and compare the success rate of implants placed at the time of crestal approach sinus lift in patients with ≤ 4 mm of residual alveolar bone (RAB) and >4 mm of RAB.

We evaluated the fetal factors to predict atopic dermatitis (AD) at 12 months in 412 infants of a COhort for Childhood Origin of Asthma and Allergic Diseases (COCOA) in the general Korean population. Cord blood mononuclear cells (CBMCs) were stimulated with ovalbumin and phytohemagglutinin and cellular proliferative response and concentrations of interleukin-13 and interferon-γ, were measured.

Therefore, we hypothesized that the midfacial degloving approach could be used for the correction of maxillary fibrous dysplasia, which has been primarily used for paranasal sinus lesions or nasopharyngeal tumor.
Methods: The study involved 5 maxillofacial fibrous dysplasia patients who underwent a midfacial degloving surgical procedure.
The effect of continuous humidifier use on the bioaerosol concentration in an indoor environment was investigated. An ultrasonic humidifier was operated for 10 hr per day for 15 days in an apartment room. During this time period, viable bioaerosol samples were taken using a single-stage Andersen sampler containing culture media plates for bacteria and fungi.
