Majority of breast cancers diagnosed today are estrogen receptor (ER)-positive, however, progesterone receptor-positive (PR-positive) is also responsible for breast cancer. Tumors that are ER/PR-positive are much more likely to respond to hormone therapy than tumors that are ER/PR-negative. Nearly 105 ERa inhibitors from literature when docked resulted in 31 compounds (pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine analogs and chromen-2-one derivatives) with better binding affinities.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel method for immobilization of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) by binding covalently to a cross-linked chitosan-multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) composite is described. In addition a sensitive, fast, cheap and automatizable flow injection detection of an organophosphorous insecticide was developed. The MWNTs were homogeneously distributed in the chitosan membrane which showed a homogeneous porous structure.

With glucose oxidase (GOD) as a model enzyme this film could be used to design an amperometric biosensor for glucose determination. The entrapped FMC-BSA conjugate performed excellent redox electrochemistry and the immobilized GOD was highly stable.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel amperometric biosensor for hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) was developed by entrapping horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in a new ormosil composite doped with ferrocene monocarboxylic acid-bovine serum albumin conjugate and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). The ormosil was prepared using 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane and 2-(3,4 epoxycyclohexyl)-ethyltrimethoxy silane as monomers. The encapsulated conjugate showed excellent electrochemistry and acted as an electron transfer mediator.
