The double inactivation of TP53 and RB1 is considered typical of neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) but is assumed to be rare in high-grade neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). The immunohistochemical determination of the p53 and Rb status has therefore been proposed as a diagnostic tool. We studied this status in a large series of high-grade neuroendocrine neoplasms, from multiple origins, in order to (a) assess the patterns observed in the different histopathological categories, (b) compare them between the various anatomic sites, and (c) evaluate their possible diagnostic relevance.

A patient with ventricular tachycardia (VT) and right ventricular (RV) metastatic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma had persistent RV gadolinium enhancement following chemotherapy and disease remission. Electrophysiology study demonstrated inducible sustained monomorphic VT requiring subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation. This highlights the arrhythmogenic potential of residual scar after resolution of cardiac masses.

Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is an underdiagnosed form of infiltrative cardiomyopathy caused by abnormal amyloid fibrils deposited extracellularly in the myocardium and cardiac structures. There can be high variability in its clinical manifestations, and diagnosing CA requires expertise and often thorough evaluation; as such, the diagnosis of CA can be challenging and is often delayed. The immunodetection of NUT protein is a reliable tool to identify NUT carcinoma, a rare and still underdiagnosed tumor entity. The technique was implemented in 2017 in our department, a tertiary reference center with a large recruitment in all tumor types, including head and neck and thoracic tumors. We evaluated its use over a 6-year period (2017-2022) to (a) describe the indications for the technique, (b) determine the number of NUT carcinomas detected and confirmed by Fluorescence in situ hybridization, and (c) describe briefly the characteristics of these tumors.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of prophylactic ureteral stent placement for the prevention of genitourinary tract injury at the time of cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta spectrum. The secondary objectives were to assess mean blood loss, operative time, number of packed red blood cells transfused, and rates of urinary tract infection among patients undergoing cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta spectrum with and without prophylactic ureteral stent placement.

Aortic pseudoaneurysms can commonly be caused by previous thoracic surgery, trauma, and infection, quickly becoming life-threatening if ruptured. This pathology is typically asymptomatic and incidentally found on imaging; however, few cases have outlined hemoptysis as a presenting symptom for aortic pseudoaneurysms. Traditionally, management of these patients included surgical correction; however, percutaneous approaches have emerged as a safe alternative, helping to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality associated with surgical correction.
