Context: Adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) face the necessity of balancing the benefits of exercise with the potential hazards of hypoglycemia.
Objective: This work aimed to assess whether impaired awareness of hypoglycemia (IAH) affects exercise-associated hypoglycemia in adults with T1D.
Methods: We compared continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-measured glucose during exercise and for 24 hours following exercise from 95 adults with T1D and IAH (Clarke score ≥4 or ≥1 severe hypoglycemic event within the past year) to 95 "aware" adults (Clarke score ≤2 and no severe hypoglycemic event within the past year) matched on sex, age, insulin delivery modality, and glycated hemoglobin A1c.
Diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia (DIPNECH) is a rare disease that is classically described as presenting with cough, dyspnea, and wheezing in non-smoker middle aged females. Pulmonary function tests commonly demonstrate an obstructive pattern and CT of chest usually reveals diffuse air trapping with mosaic pattern. We present a case of patient with DIPNECH manifesting with restrictive pattern and as usual interstitial pneumonia on imaging.

Here we demonstrated a new microarray for ratiometric detection of the activity of PKs using peptide nucleic acid (PNA)-tagged peptides labeled with two different fluorophores, Cy3 and Cy5. We successfully detected cellular PK activities based on ratiometry, and applied the system for evaluation of an inhibitory drug.

According to the non-fouling features of the surface, the signal-to-noise ratio of the detection of phosphorylated peptides improved by about 100-fold from that of a peptide microarray fabricated on a glass slide blocked by a commercial BSA-based reagent. When the phosphatidylcholine-polymer-coated peptide microarray was applied to the analysis of the kinome of HCC827 cells, hyperactivation of c-Src and EGFR were successfully detected.

This assay is based on the color change of gold nanoparticles on aggregation induced by a cationic substrate peptide as coagulant. In spite of the simplicity of this assay system, this assay can be applied to drug screening based on cellular kinases.
