Social media for radiologists: opportunities and challenges.

The use of social media in medicine offers unprecedented opportunities for social interaction. Activity on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn plays crucial roles in various medical services, particularly regarding patients' access to information and healthcare services, medical education, and professional networking. However, the integration of social media into healthcare is not challenge-free and has certain pitfalls.

The Role of Radiomics in Rectal Cancer.

Purpose: Radiomics is a promising method for advancing imaging assessment in rectal cancer. This review aims to describe the emerging role of radiomics in the imaging assessment of rectal cancer, including various applications of radiomics based on CT, MRI, or PET/CT.

Methods: We conducted a literature review to highlight the progress of radiomic research to date and the challenges that need to be addressed before radiomics can be implemented clinically.

Malignant mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis testis: A rare cause of hydrocele.

Mesotheliomas of the tunica vaginalis testis are very uncommon tumors, with rare cases published in the literature. This report demonstrates a case in with such a tumor was diagnosed in a 50-year-old man who presented to the emergency room with mild, acute scrotal pain and swelling, without previously known scrotal pathology. It is noted that sonographers should be aware of the typical characteristics that allow for suspecting malignancy in scrotal sonography performed in the emergency setting; this was particularly important in this case.

Vaginal cancer: Why should we care? Anatomy, staging and in-depth imaging-based review of vaginal malignancies focusing on MRI and PET/CT.

Vaginal cancer often poses a challenge for clinical and radiological diagnosis, and its risk factors, progression, and treatment are still poorly established. Although vaginal malignancies are rare, even globally, their rates have increased due to the increased access to healthcare and the evolution of screening measures and diagnostic methods. Because the vaginal cavity is a virtual space, it can harbor lesions that often go unnoticed and, not infrequently, diagnosed belatedly.

Higher frequency of hepatic steatosis at CT among COVID-19-positive patients.

Purpose: Recent studies have demonstrated that obesity is significantly associated with increased disease severity, hospitalizations and mortality in COVID-19, with a potential role in the pathogenesis and prevalence in the new pandemic. The association with hepatic steatosis, however, a condition closely related to obesity within the spectrum of systemic metabolic dysfunctions, remains to be elucidated. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of hepatic steatosis as incidentally detected in chest CT examinations of COVID-19 positive patients in comparison to non-infected controls.
