Background: The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic role of acoustic radiation force impulse imaging (ARFI) in differentiating benign and malignant cervical nodes.

Methods: This was a diagnostic accuracy cross-sectional study. All patients who underwent ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of cervical nodes were included.

Intraabdominal hypertension (IAH) in acute pancreatitis (AP) may reduce tissue perfusion and impair organ function and has been shown to portend poor prognosis. We investigated the computed tomography (CT) findings in patients with AP with IAH.  This retrospective study comprised of consecutive patients with AP from June 2016 to June 2018 in whom intraabdominal pressure (IAP) was measured.

Background B-mode ultrasound (BMUS) and color doppler ultrasound (CDUS) could be valuable in evaluating cervical lymphadenopathy compared to palpation. This study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of BMUS and CDUS in differentiating cervical lymph nodes into benign and malignant nature.  Methodology In this cross-sectional analytical study, a total of 166 patients, who were referred for US-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of cervical nodes, were included.

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is an important gastrointestinal cause of morbidity worldwide. It can severely impair the quality of life besides life-threatening acute and long-term complications. Pain and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (leading to malnutrition) impact the quality of life.

Corrosive ingestion is a common form of poisoning. Corrosive agents cause severe damage to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The most severe forms of injury can lead to mortality; however, the major concern with this type of injury is life-long morbidity.

Male breast can show almost all pathological entities described in female breast. Inflammatory conditions of the breast in male are not common; however, occasionally, it can be encountered in the form of an abscess. Clinically, gynecomastia always presents as a symmetric unilateral or bilateral lump in the retroareolar region, and any irregular asymmetric lump raises a possibility of malignancy.

Using the Indian Human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) isolate derived lentiviral vector (LV) system reported earlier, we have derived multiple differently configured transfer vectors. Among the features imparted, the novel ones include a blue/white colony screening platform, a shorter vector backbone candidate and availability of default dual tags. Simultaneously, panels with different utilities were also made using this LV.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how the tumour suppressor p53 differentiates between cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, revealing a complex interaction involving SMAR1 and the MAR element in the promoters of BAX and PUMA.
  • When mild DNA damage occurs, SMAR1 represses BAX and PUMA, resulting in cell cycle arrest rather than apoptosis.
  • Conversely, severe DNA damage enhances apoptotic processes by promoting p53 acetylation and reducing SMAR1's ability to bind to BAX and PUMA, ultimately leading to cell death.

CD40, a costimulatory molecule expressed on macrophages, induces expression of interleukin 12 (IL-12) in uninfected macrophages and IL-10 in macrophages infected with Leishmania major. IL-12 suppresses, whereas IL-10 enhances, L. major infection.

Gene delivery has become an important tool for biological research and gene therapy trials. Lentiviral vector (LV) mediated gene transfer is a preferred approach for stable, sustained transgenic expression. We report here step-wise development of an Indian human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) isolate derived third generation lentiviral vector with a novel, versatile multiple cloning site (MCS) that can also facilitate single step sub-cloning of a PCR amplified transgene cassette by T/A cloning strategy apart from useful cohesive/blunt end cloning.
