Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) has many facets including mixed or atypical depression that requires personalized care to improve treatment-related outcomes. Second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) offer complementary mechanisms for clinical roles in difficult-to-treat depression and treatment-resistant depression cases. Aim/objective To further delineate a consensus on the clinical positioning of SGAs for MDD, mixed, or atypical depression, a Knowledge Attitude Perception (KAP)-mediated Delphi Statement was planned.

Utilization of Emergency Psychiatry Service in a Tertiary Care Centre in North Eastern India: A Retrospective Study.

Background: In a developing country like India, with a lot of psychosocial stressors and ample stigma toward psychiatry, we studied the sociodemographic pattern of the patients coming to a tertiary care center for emergency psychiatry services and also evaluated the types and pattern of emergency services provided to them. We also assessed the predominant presenting complaints with which patients presented at the emergency department, "reasons for referral" in an emergency by other departments, and types of psychiatric diagnoses in the patients.

Subjects And Methods: Data were extracted retrospectively from the general emergency and psychiatry emergency register of Silchar Medical College and Hospital for 1 year and analyzed.

Objective: To evaluate Internet addiction among medical students in northeastern India and gain detailed knowledge about the prevalence, risk factors, and ill effects commonly associated with the disorder.

Method: The cross-sectional study sample comprised 188 medical students from Silchar Medical College and Hospital (Silchar, Assam, India). Students completed a sociodemographic form and an Internet use questionnaire, both created for this study, and the Young's 20-Item Internet Addiction Test after they received brief instructions.

A clinical study of neurological soft signs in patients with schizophrenia.

Background And Aim: Neurological soft signs (NSSs) are "objectively measured, nonlocalizing abnormalities, not related to impairment of a specific brain region, reflecting improper cortical-subcortical and intercortical connections." The possibility of NSS as an endophenotype in schizophrenia has been studied across the globe. An Atypical and Resistant Case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Responding Satisfactorily with an Unusual way of Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.

It is well established fact that a combination of pharmacological therapy plus cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) - exposure and response prevention (ERP) is considered first line for the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This case presented here supports this point in unusual way of ERP administration in an atypical and resistant case of OCD proved to be beneficial over pharmacotherapy. The case was atypical in the sense that it had many overvalued ideas, superstitions and religious beliefs playing major role in its aetiology.

Devaki syndrome: a culture-bound psychological reaction in Indian Hindu women in response to repeated pregnancy loss?

Depression and anxiety are observed in pregnant women with previous foetal loss due to spontaneous abortions. Culture has important influence on the expression of psychopathology. We report two Hindu women during second trimester of pregnancy with symptoms of depression and anxiety along with identification with a mythological figure - Devaki, with extreme preoccupations with child Krishna and expecting a male child, which precipitated after a series of unfortunate foetal losses.

Insight in psychotic disorder: relation with psychopathology and frontal lobe function.

Background/aims: Through conceptualising poor insight in psychotic disorders as a form of anosognosia, frontal lobe dysfunction is often ascribed a vital role in its pathogenesis. The objective of this study was to compare the relation of insight in patients with psychotic illness to that of psychopathology and frontal lobe function.

Methods: Forty patients with psychotic disorder were selected from those attending the Department of Psychiatry in a tertiary care teaching hospital.

Eslicarbazepine acetate in the management of refractory bipolar disorder.

Eslicarbazepine acetate is a novel third-generation antiepileptic related to carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine with a benign adverse effect profile. We report a patient with bipolar mania with intolerance to multiple antimanic drugs, responding to eslicarbazepine without any serious adverse effect.

Atypical presentation of tuberous sclerosis and obsessive compulsive disorder in an adult male.

Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC) is clinically marked by a triad of adenoma sebaceum, epilepsy and mental retardation. It can however manifest as various neuropsychiatric disorders. We report a patient who presented with TSC and co-morbid Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Storage behavior of immune-enhancing enteral formulation from natural sources.

Nutrition support has become an important therapeutic intervention for improving outcomes in hospitalized patients. The present study was carried out with the objective of studying appropriate packaging and storage studies of enteral formulation from natural sources comprising finger millet (Eleusine coracana), soyprotein isolate, tomato powder, carrot powder, anne greens (Celosia argentea), groundnut oil and fish oil. Two type of packages--namely, polypropylene pouches and metallized polyester/polyethylene pouches--were used.

Nutritional status of rural women in relation to their participation in mixed farming in the Tafresh area of Iran.

This study was conducted in the Tafresh area of Iran to assess the dietary patterns, time allocation, and nutritional status of rural women in relation to their participation in mixed farming activities. We selected 75 women from 40 villages by applying a stratified random-sampling technique. Cereals and grains were the major source of energy intake.
