Pleomorphic adenoma with extensive oncocytic papillary cystic areas and trichilemmal keratinisation - A unique presentation.

Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is a commonly occurring benign salivary gland tumour known for its surfeit of histo-morphologic appearances ranging from myxochondroid, plasmacytoid, and squamoid elements to the infrequently seen osseous and adipose tissue metaplasia. Oncocytic metaplastic changes, a rare finding, present in the form of sheets/islands/cords of polygonal cells with rich eosinophilic or occasionally clear cytoplasm and an oval/round nucleus. We report one such rare case which portrayed extensive oncocytic changes in a unique bilayered/multi-layered epithelium, lining the papillary cystic areas similar to that of Warthin's tumour and extensive keratinisation simulating the newly recognised entity "adnexa-like differentiation/trichilemmal keratinisation", along with foci of cholesterol clefts and multi-nucleated giant cells.

Background: Recently, studies have concentrated on complementary medicine in treating a large number of diseases, including cancer. Unfortunately, many of these treatment methods do not provide a permanent solution, and even if they do, many do not have a scientific corroboration. A shift toward alternative medicine and natural methods is being preferred to reduce if not counter the toxic effects of the drugs that are used to treat such diseases.

Influence of nail biting and finger sucking habits on the oral carriage of Enterobacteriaceae.

Background: Oral habits like thumb sucking and nail biting are pernicious habits that act as an adaptive function in obtaining pleasure and subduing anxiety. These habits may also act as carriers of numerous microorganisms into the oral cavity, of which, Enterobacteriaceae members are transient pathogens, which might result in debilitating systemic conditions.

Aim: To study the oral carriage of Enterobacteriaceae in children having habit of nail biting and thumb sucking.

Massive granular cell ameloblastoma with dural extension and atypical morphology.

Ameloblastomas are rare histologically benign, locally aggressive tumors arising from the oral ectoderm that occasionally reach a gigantic size. Giant ameloblastomas are a rarity these days with the advent of panoramic radiography in routine dental practice. Furthermore, the granular cell variant is an uncommon histological subtype of ameloblastoma where the central stellate reticulum like cells in tumor follicles is replaced by granular cells.

Mandibular aneurysmal bone cyst associated with cemento-ossifying fibroma - a case report.

Aneurysmal bone cyst is an uncommon bone lesion which rarely occurs in craniofacial region. Among all the cystic lesions occurring in the jaws, aneurysmal bone cyst is infrequent and it more commonly occurs in the mandible. Most of the cases occur in the first two decades of life, with no gender predilection.
