Synthesis of a series of new urea and thiourea compounds have been accomplished by the reaction of 2,3-dihydro-1-inden-1-amine with various phenyl isocyanates and isothiocyanates. These compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant activity by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and nitric oxide (NO) radical scavenging assay methods including IC values. Some of the compounds exhibited potential activity in the two tested methods.

The title compounds 3a-j and 5a-k were characterized by IR, H, C NMR and mass spectral data. Antimicrobial, antioxidant and in silico molecular docking studies were made against aromatase.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA separation and preconcentration procedure was developed for the determination of trace amounts of Cd(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) in water and food samples using Amberlite XAD-2 fuctionalized with a new chelating ligand, 3-(2-nitrophenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-thione (Amberlite XAD-2-NPTT). The chelating resin was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and used as a solid sorbent for enrichment of analytes from samples. The sorbed elements were subsequently eluted with 10 mL of 1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric method was developed and validated for the determination of metoprolol in human plasma. The analyte and internal standard, nevirapine, were extracted from plasma matrix by liquid-liquid extraction with ethyl acetate. Chromatographic separation was achieved on a C-18 analytical column with an isocratic mobile phase of 15:85 (V/V) 10 mmol L-1 ammonium acetate (pH 5.

Parameters such as effect of pH, effect of HNO(3) concentration on elution of metals from resin were studied. The results show that Amberlite XAD-4 coated with APDC was more efficient in the recovery of metal ions compared with Amberlite XAD-4 coated with pipDTC, in the concentration range of 0.

Studies were carried out by culturing lettuce plants grown for 2 weeks in pots filled with quartz sand mixed with anion-exchange resin and then for 30 days in a greenhouse.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA method for solid phase extraction of trace metals, namely, Cd, Cu, and Ni, using Amberlite XAD-2 functionalized with a new chelating ligand, 2-hydroxy-acetophenone-3-thiosemicarbazone (Amberlite XAD-2-HAPTSC), has been developed. The optimum experimental conditions for the quantitative sorption of three metals, pH, effect of flow rate, concentration of eluent, sorption capacity, kinetics of sorption, and the effect of diverse ions on the sorption of analytes have been investigated. The chelating resin could be reused for more than 20 cycles of sorption-desorption without any significant change (<1.
