[Technological process of biopsy investigation in the department of clinical pathology].

The history of biopsy taking and examination as well as all the technology of biopsy processing is reviewed. All the parts of this chain are considered from the practical point of view with recommendations acceptable for the majority of pathomorphological laboratories.

[30 years work of the autopsy department of a city general hospital].

The paper reports the analysis of the activity of the pathology department at Moscow general hospital N 67 with the emphasis on autopsy and biopsy investigations, research activity. Such analyses are thought useful both for intrahospital and health service use.

[Analysis of the causes of fatal outcome in fractures of the upper third of the femur].

Analysis of 5-year mortality of 1348 patients with fractures of the proximal end of the femur is presented. The effectiveness of measures aimed at the prevention of developing complications has been assessed. The data obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of these measures.

[An introduction to iatrogenic pathology].

The authors presented the current conception of iatrogenesis in wide interpretation consistent with The International Classification of the Diseases and Causes of Death (the IX revision). The tendencies in iatrogenesis determination are analysed. Soviet and foreign literature data published on iatrogenic variants, frequency rate, problems for pathologists, classification, medical-pathological and social aspects are delineated.

[Comparative pathology of the choroid vessels in glaucoma, hypertension and arteriosclerosis].

Results of histological and histochemical studies of the choroid of the eyes of deceased old people who when alive suffered from glaucoma, hypertensive disease and atherosclerosis, are presented. It was established that hypertensive disease, general atherosclerosis, symptomatic hypertension brought about peculiar changes in the choroid vessels and stroma. There were revealed changes in the venous system of the choroid of the glaucomatous eyes, which testified to the presence of venous congestion in them, this apparently being one of pathogenetic factors in origination of primary glaucoma.
