A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE DOSIMETRIC FEATURES OF α-Al2O3:C,Mg AND α-Al2O3:C.

A comparative study of the dosimetric features of α-Al2O3:C,Mg and α-Al2O3:C relevant to thermoluminescence dosimetry is reported. A glow curve of α-Al2O3:C,Mg measured at 1°C/s after beta irradiation to 1 Gy shows two subsidiary peaks at 42°C (labelled as I) and 72°C (II) and the main peak at 161°C (III) whereas a glow curve of α-Al2O3:C measured under the same conditions shows the main peak at 178°C (II') and a lower intensity peak at 48°C (I'). Apart from these ones, there are several other peaks at temperatures beyond that of the main peak in both α-Al2O3:C,Mg and α-Al2O3:C.

Purpose:: To evaluate the frequency and causes of hyponatremia in acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) and its effect on outcome.

Patients And Methods:: Consecutive patients with AES were subjected to neurological evaluation including Glasgow Coma Scale, focal weakness, movement disorder, and reflex changes. The etiology of AES was based on blood and cerebrospinal fluid enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and polymerase chain reaction.

Status epilepticus: Refractory and super-refractory.

Status epilepticus (SE) is an important neurological emergency. It is defined as seizures lasting for 5 minutes or more or recurrent seizures without recovery of consciousness to baseline between the attacks. It is a known clinical entity but etiology and pathophysiology are largely unknown.

A randomized controlled trial of lacosamide versus sodium valproate in status epilepticus.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of lacosamide (LCM) and sodium valproate (SVA) in lorazepam (LOR)-resistant status epilepticus (SE).

Methods: Patients with LOR-resistant SE were randomized to intravenous LCM 400 mg at a rate of 60 mg/kg/min or SVA 30 mg/kg at a rate of 100 mg/min. The SE severity score (STESS), duration of SE and its etiology, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were noted.
