Introduction: At the end of life, patients with advanced cancer and their informal caregivers may confront multiple existential concerns. Despite the strong potential to alleviate existential distress through psychosocial interventions, existential distress and its impact on healthcare outcomes have not yet been studied systematically. We aim to investigate the frequency, longitudinal trajectory and predictive impact of existential distress on end-of-life outcomes.

Limited tendon recovery is provided through the surgical procedures available. Re-rupture occurs during and after recovery and the long time it takes to return to work, impossibility of early movement of the affected ankle and not being able to provide a physiological recovery in tendon constitute a problem.

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of an Erbium, Chromium:Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium-Garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser on removing the filling residues and smear layer (SL) after retreatment using rotary files. Er,Cr:YSGG laser has been proposed as an additional protocol to improve root canal cleaning and removal of the filling remnants. Eighty-four mandibular premolars were divided into six groups ( = 14).

Wistar albino rats were randomized into four groups: control; ALA; AP; and ALA + AP. Rats of the control and ALA groups were not endodontically treated, but saline and ALA (100 mg kg ) were administered.

Methodology: The study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Near East University. Thirty-two Wistar rats were divided into four groups of eight rats each: Control Group; ALA Group; AP Group; AP + ALA Group.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of calcium-silicate-based sealer (Endosequence-BC-Sealer) in roots, filled with thermo-plasticized injectable technique aided by Calamus-Flow-Delivery-System, on bond strength to radicular dentin, in comparison with conventional epoxy-resin-based sealer (AH-Plus) along with cold-lateral-compaction technique. Root canals of mandibular-premolar teeth ( = 80) were instrumented using Protaper Universal rotary files and were randomly divided into four experimental groups ( = 20) as follows: (1) AH-Plus + cold-lateral-compaction technique; (2) Endosequence-BC-Sealer + cold-lateral-compaction technique; (3) AH-Plus + thermo-plasticized injectable technique; and (4) Endosequence-BC-Sealer + thermo-plasticized injectable technique. Horizontal disc shaped samples from each group ( = 60/group) were obtained and push-out bond strength testing was performed at a cross-head speed of 0.

For this reason, new methods and materials are continuously being developed to achieve the objectives of endodontic treatment.

Purpose: A local injection of corticosteroid-lidocaine into the periarticular soft tissue structures is used commonly for rapid pain relief. It is hypothesized that knee pain associated with knee osteoarthritis would be relieved quickly and effectively in patients receiving intraarticular hyaluronic acid combined with a periarticular lidocaine-corticosteroid injection. To test this hypothesis, the clinical effect of the combined treatment with hyaluronic acid injection alone in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis as compared in this prospective single-blinded randomized trial.

Therefore, clinicians should familiarize themselves with patient's root canal anatomy and morphology. The objective of this retrospective study was to analyze and characterize mandibular root canal morphology using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in a Turkish Cypriot population.

Methods: Eighty Sprague-Dawley female rats were included in this study. Animals were randomly assigned into two groups with 40 animals in each: erythropoietin group and control group.
Objectives: Because of economic and political issues, Turkish Cypriots have been emigrating from Cyprus since the 1920s, especially to the United Kingdom, other European countries and Australia. Recently, according to the UK House of Commons, Home Affairs Committee, ~300,000 Cypriot Turks were living in the United Kingdom. However, this ethnic population residing in the United Kingdom has been insufficiently analysed.

Methods: MOWHTO was performed on 35 knees of 34 consecutive patients. A visual analogue scale (VAS), and Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis (WOMAC) and Lysholm scores, were used in clinical evaluation.

Macrodactyly is a rare congenital deformity of the extremities, and with clinodactyly is even rarer. Both conditions may also be associated with a lipofibromatous hamartoma of the median nerve. We report an adult woman with clinodactyly and macrodactyly of the fourth and fifth fingers of her left hand associated with a carpal tunnel syndrome.

However, the effect of prostaglandin I2 (PGI2) on fracture healing remains unclear. To investigate the effect of PGI2, a study on fracture healing process in closed tibia fractures was designed.

The aetiology of internal root resorption is not completely understandable, trauma and chronic pulpitis are considered the main risk factors.
Case Presentation: We report a rare case of the multiple idiopathic resorption in the permanent maxillary and mandibular molars in a healthy 33-year-old female patient.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of dexketoprofen trometamol, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, on fracture healing.
Methods: Closed tibia fracture was created in the right tibia of 60 male Wistar albino rats. Fixation was achieved by closed reduction and 0.
Background: This study was planned to evaluate both the histopathological changes under light microscope as well as the systemic organ effects following application of Ankaferd Blood Stopper® (ABS) (a mixture of five plant extracts) in an animal model of deep tissue hemorrhage.
Methods: A total of 50 Wistar Albino rats were divided into five groups of 10 rats each. The rats underwent femoral vein puncture and were treated with ABS tampon, ABS spray, or Surgicel, and one group was left untreated.
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of mini-plate and screw fixation to stabilize the first metatarsal osteotomy in patients undergoing Mitchell bunionectomy, with the outcomes of interest being radiological alignment and the time to bony union.
Methods: We used mini-plates and screws in 43 feet of 25 patients to avoid cast immobilization and prevent osteotomy displacement. The mean age at operation was 45.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomical distance between apices of the palatine root of the maxillary first molars to the buccal bone plate to identify the vestibular surgical pathway in a Turkish adult population using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.
Methods: CBCT scans of 107 (48 male and 59 female) patients were retrospectively analyzed. The overall mean age was 38.
Purpose: This is a descriptive analysis, of victims of Turkey's October 23, 2011 and November 21, 2011 Van earthquakes. The goal of this study is investigated the injury profile of the both earthquakes in relation to musculoskeletal trauma.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 3,965 patients admitted to in seven hospitals.
Objective: The aim of the current study was to determine the prevalence of subclinical entheseal involvement in patients with Behçet disease via ultrasound using a newly developed method, the Madrid sonography enthesitis index.
Subjects And Methods: The study was conducted with 36 patients with Behçet disease and 46 healthy sex- and age-matched control subjects. All patients with Behçet disease who had no clinical evidence of arthritis or enthesitis underwent an ultrasound examination.
Onychomycosis in toenails is a common fungal infection and vascular abnormalities of lower extremities have been thought as one of the predisposing conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate predisposition effect of venous insufficiency and peripheral arterial disease on toenail onychomycosis. Thirty-three patients with bilateral onychomycosis in toenails and 37 control subjects, who had healthy nails, were enrolled in the study.

Two-stage tendoplasty is an expensive procedure; with the addition of the high cost of rods, it is still more expensive. An experimental study investigated cheaper alternatives to silicon rods, but no clinical studies seem to have been reported so far.
