To prospectively evaluate the safety and efficacy of the TIGRIS Vascular Stent in the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and proximal popliteal artery within a treatment algorithm that reserved stent usage for more challenging patients. This prospective, single-center study enrolled 97 patients (mean age 68.7 years; 66 men) who were treated for 100 de novo or nonstented restenotic femoropopliteal lesions (≥70% stenosis) and had recoil or dissection after plain balloon predilation.

Methods: In 105 consecutive patients after transfemoral catheterization, the puncture site was closed using a closure device (Angio-Seal). Colour-flow-duplexsonography studies were conducted 1 to 4 days before, within 3 days after and 3 month after the intervention.
Introduction: A boy presented with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) associated with severe central nervous system dysfunction. The clinical history and the distinctive radiographic/tomographic features were consistent but not completely diagnostic for dysosteosclerosis.
Case Presentation: A 5-year-old boy from a consanguineous family in Austria was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita in connection with central nervous system dysfunction.
There is abundant data on cancellous bone in the aging human spine, but little relating to the growing vertebral cancellous bone in childhood an adolescence. The purpose of this study was to map vertebral cancellous bone in a growth and age series of historic skeletal samples and to make comparisons with data published on recent material. Lumbar vertebral bodies were collected from 65 skeletons (0-60 years) from a medieval Nubian population.

We used 10-mm sections of fourth lumbar vertebral bodies and left femoral necks of 18 individuals of both sexes with estimated ages from 20 to 60 years of a 4000y BP bronze-age population. Stereoscopic photographs were used for three-dimensional analysis and trabecular number (TN) counting.

Two of these instruments were operated by x-rays (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry = DEXA), whereas one system was based on a gadolinium source (dual photon absorptiometry = DPA). Although excellent correlation between the measurements was obtained (r greater than 0,9), the measurements of one of the DEXA-instruments were significantly higher than the measurements of the two other systems.
