Evaluation of the Effect of Different Inhalation Agents on Ovaries with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy: An Experimental Study.

: Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug that is frequently used with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Cisplatin-induced gonadotoxicity leads to a depletion of the ovarian reserve, causing premature ovarian insufficiency. This study aimed to investigate the impact of hyperthermia on cisplatin-induced ovarian toxicity and to determine whether sevoflurane or desflurane could be a more appropriate choice of anesthetic for reducing ovarian toxicity in HIPEC procedures.

Evaluation of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Degenerative and Tractional Lamellar Macular Hole.

Background: This study aims to evaluate the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings in cases with degenerative and tractional lamellar macular holes (LMH).

Methods: Two subtypes of LMH cases were included. Seventeen patients had the degenerative subtype, whereas 18 patients had the tractional subtype of LMH.

Subthreshold laser treatment for non-center involved diabetic macular edema via non-damaging retinal laser therapy (NRT).

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of subthreshold laser treatment via non-damaging retinal laser therapy (NRT) in patients with non-center involved diabetic macular edema (non-CI DME).

Methods: In this prospective controlled study, NRT with 577 nm wavelength was performed to the edematous inner subfields as needed at 3 monthly intervals, while the control group received no treatment. If CI-DME developed in either group, intravitreal anti-VEGF was performed and the eye was excluded from subsequent analysis.

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by the development of central or peripheral nervous system tumors. The most common form, known as NF1 or Von Recklinghausen's disease, presents with distinct clinical features, including cutaneous and ocular manifestations, along with various other organ and systemic symptoms. While the lung findings associated with neurofibromatosis lack specificity, they can include parenchymal cysts and bullae formation, primarily in the upper-apical regions.

Tracheobronchial variations in Pneumoconiosis cases: multidetector computed tomography diagnosis.

Background: Tracheobronchial variations (TBVs) are more common than previously believed due to the increasing use of multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT). This study aimed to assess TBVs in cases of pneumoconiosis, one of the oldest occupational diseases that still poses a threat to public health.

Methods: This was a descriptive study that involved reviewing chest MDCT images of 34 cases of pneumoconiosis and 34 control cases retrospectively from January 2020 to April 2022.

The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of diabetic macular edema (DME) treated with aflibercept (AFB) or ranibizumab (RNB) only, and after switching from RNB to AFB. This was a retrospective, real-world, multicenter (7 cities) 24 month study. Overall, 212 eyes in the AFB group, 461 in the RNB group, and 141 in the RNB to AFB group were included.

Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy in diabetic macular edema: real-life outcomes from a multicenter study in Turkey over 36 months.

Purpose: This study aimed to report the visual and anatomical outcomes of intravitreal anti-VEGF treatment for diabetic macular edema (DME) in a real-world clinical setting from Turkey over 36 months.

Methods: This is a retrospective, multicenter (7 sites) study. The medical records of 1072 eyes (both previously treated and naive eyes) of 706 consecutive patients with visual impairment due to center-involving DME treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF injections between April 2007 and February 2017 were reviewed.

Comparison of the Effects of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy in a Rabbit Model of Experimentally Induced Achilles Tendon Injury.

Achilles tendon injuries are a common cause of complications including adhesions and tendon degeneration. As a result of these complications, the biomechanical properties are lost. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) recover the injured tendon structure; however, detailed studies of changes in tendon biomechanical properties are limited.

Optical coherence tomography and neurodegeneration in epilepsy.

Purpose: To compare optical coherence tomography measurements; central macular thickness, ganglion cell complex, and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in patients with epilepsy versus healthy controls.

Methods: We evaluated 28 eyes of 28 patients with epilepsy and 34 eyes of 34 healthy subjects. Central macular thickness, ganglion cell complex, and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness measurements were performed by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography.

Methods: Ninety-four eyes of 49 patients with BD and 53 eyes of 53 healthy subjects were included. Vascular density (VD), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, perifoveal capillary hypoperfusion, perifoveal capillary network disorganization, and FAZ irregularity were analyzed.

Postoperative analgesia after total abdominal hysterectomy: Is the transversus abdominis plane block effective?

Background: Analgesic protocol is needed following gynecologic surgery to ensure early mobilization, decrease the duration in the post-anesthetic care unit and hospitalization, and provide patient comfort. Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks are used in the treatment of acute postoperative pain after lower abdominal surgery. TAP block may be a better choice of postoperative pain control.

SPONTANEOUS SUPRACHOROIDAL HEMORRHAGE ASSOCIATED WITH IATROGENIC COAGULOPATHY.
