MTHFR A1298C and C677T Polymorphisms Are Associated with Increased Risk of Venous Thromboembolism: A Retrospective Chart Review Study.

Background: Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a key enzyme in homocysteine metabolism. This study aims to determine the impact of MTHFR polymorphisms on plasma homocysteine levels and risks of venous thromboembolism (VTE).

Methods: This retrospective chart review study included a total of 188 subjects who were tested for MTHFR polymorphisms at Metrowest Coagulation Laboratory between April 2011 and April 2016.

Medication errors among adults and children with cancer in the outpatient setting.

Purpose: Outpatients with cancer receive complicated medication regimens in the clinic and home. Medication errors in this setting are not well described. We aimed to determine rates and types of medication errors and systems factors associated with error in outpatients with cancer.

Primary cardiac angiosarcoma.

Primary cardiac sarcoma is a rare clinical entity, with an incidence of 0.0001% in collected autopsy series. The majority of the literature describes a uniformly dismal prognosis with a median survival of only 6 months for these aggressive tumors.
