[Current problems of occupational medicine in mining enterprises of the North].

The article deals with causes of occupational diseases (including those due to complex factors) among miners in Far North and other regions of CIS. The authors present main principles for more healthy work conditions with considerations of climate surroundings.

[The scientific support of public health institutions with the technology for the sociomedical assessment of the health of miners].

Analysis of the scientific research activities of the Donetsk Research Centre of Occupational Hygiene and Prevention of Traumatism was carried out, which offered a basis for the development of technology for medicosocial assessment of morbidity involving temporary unfitness for work, occupational morbidity, invalidism and mortality among coal miners, risk for development of nonoccupational and occupational diseases, prevalence of IHD and other non-infectious diseases, functional status of the organism according to psychophysiological indices for those going to work in the mine, as well as of the state of undue fatigue and overstrain experienced by the miners. The analysis permits the above technology to be inaugurated in the health care establishments and research institutes.

[The working conditions and health status of miners in Donets Basin coal mines].

Data are reported on working conditions of coal miners considering the main physical (dust, noise, vibration, microclimate) and chemical environmental professional factors and their prognosis up to the year 2005. The authors analyze professional morbidity (pneumoconiosis, dust-induced bronchitis, vibration disease, cochlear neuritis etc.) and diseases with temporary loss of the working capacity invalidity and mortality of miners.

[Hygienic principles of work organization for coal miners with different health status].

Based on the original analysis of the data pertaining to labour routes and the peculiarities of job-placement in mines, the article summaries the hygienic principles for job-placement of coal-miners and provides classification criteria for labour routes in mines. An expert analysis is provided of 146 professions and occupations in coal-mining for workers with different health states and labour ability conditions.

[The role of ecological factors and working conditions in the development of occupational pathology in the Donetsk region].

Among the factors producing effects on the formation of indexes of morbidity of the people working in Donbass, the main role is played by the ecological situation in the region, working conditions and lifestyle of the working people. On the basis of morbidity indexes analysis proposals and measures aimed at the preservation and improvement of health of the working people are formulated.
