Histological, biochemical, and biophysical techniques were used to examine the properties of a biocomplex compound prepared by using the well-known drug metronidazole, which affects gram-negative microbes, with the trace element zinc. The biocomplex was demonstrated to considerably enhance the efficiency of the parent ligand and to expand its action range. The new compound affected the body's immunity, promotes the recovery of its trace element balance and the development of compensatory and adaptative responses in the liver, kidney, spleen, and pancreas.

Transfer of ions in temperature-dependent phase transition of membrane lipids was studied in liposomes, human erythrocytes and in perfused rat liver tissue. Signal functions of cells appear to be related to the phase state of membrane lipids involving alterations in parameters of ions transfer.

Changes induced by the effect of microwave irradiation (2450 MHz, specific absorbed power from 0.1 to 5 W/g, continuous and pulsed-modulated regime) on potassium ion transport and oxygen consumption in the perfused liver do not virtually differ from those induced by heating the perfusate: this is indicative of a "thermal" mechanism of action of microwave radiation.
