This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate the possibility of artery dissection as a class effect of VPIs using nationwide real-world data. This cohort study was conducted based on the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan (NDB), which spans nearly the entire Japanese population of over 100 million individuals.

We report a case of a totally-endoscopic repair of a pseudoaneurysm after endoscopic mitral valve repair. Introduction: This study aimed to compare the prognostic impact of laparoscopic left hepatectomy (LLH) with that of open left hepatectomy (OLH) on patient survival after resection of left hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: Among the 953 patients who received initial treatment for primary HCC that was resectable by either LLH or OLH from 2013 to 2017 in Japan and Korea, 146 patients underwent LLH and 807 underwent OLH. The inverse probability of treatment weighting approach based on propensity scoring was used to address the potential selection bias inherent in the recurrence and survival outcomes between the LLH and OLH groups.

In the present study, we aimed to investigate the association between urate-lowering drugs and cardiovascular events, primarily focusing on the risk of febuxostat and topiroxostat when compared with allopurinol in Japan. We conducted an observational study with a cohort design using the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan, including new urate-lowering drugs users between August 1, 2010, and March 31, 2018. Exposure and control groups were defined based on the first prescription of urate-lowering drugs as follows: febuxostat or topiroxostat for exposure groups, allopurinol for the control group, and benzbromarone for the secondary control group.

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare mesenchymal tumors, but are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. The risk classification of GISTs is based on the tumor size, mitotic index, tumor site, and presence of tumor rupture. Recurrence in the very-low-risk group is extremely rare.

Structures and Oxidation Properties of Phenylene-Bridged Diazacycloalkanes: Ring Size Effects on Structures and Properties.

Phenylenediamine derivatives have been investigated as functional molecules because of their characteristic oxidation properties. In this study, phenylene-bridged diazacycloalkanes, that is, , , and , in which numbers indicate the lengths of a side chain, were synthesized, and the effects of the macroring size on their structures and oxidation properties were investigated. X-ray crystallography revealed that the structures around the nitrogen atoms were remarkably dependent on the chain lengths.

Salvage Pleurectomy/Decortication After Immunotherapy for Sarcomatoid Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma.

Sarcomatoid malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a highly aggressive malignant tumor. Surgery may not be recommended, and chemotherapy is less effective. More recently, immunotherapy has become a new standard treatment of care for advanced MPM across all histologic subtypes.

Unusual giant multilocular thymic cyst with mature teratoma including a carcinoid component in the mediastinum.

Background: Teratoma is the second most common mediastinal neoplasm, but malignant transformation in mature teratomas is uncommon, and cases of carcinoid tumor with teratoma are described in only a few studies. In addition, multilocular thymic cyst associated with mature mediastinal teratoma is also a rare entity. There have been no reports of case with the coexistence of these three pathological lesions.
