Unlabelled: Acute limb ischemia (ALI) related to total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is rare. Most occlusions are caused by thrombus formation in the popliteal artery (PA). Currently such cases are revascularized using less invasive approaches such as endovascular therapy or Fogarty thrombectomy.

Background: The prognosis of chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is poor, with an expected life expectancy of 2 or more years, which significantly influences treatment decisions. However, death may occur at the early stages of treatment for wound healing, and aggressive treatment may limit the quality of life of such patients. In patients with CLTI undergoing endovascular therapy (EVT), the Wound, Ischemia, and foot Infection (WIfI) clinical stage, male sex, older age, non-ambulatory status, low body mass index, and dialysis have been reported as predictors of mortality risk.

Background: Previous reports have revealed various endovascular intervention techniques for prosthetic femoropopliteal bypass occlusion (PFPBO); however, treatment for PFPBO remains challenging for most interventionalists and vascular surgeons because the procedure is complicated. Most of the reported techniques involve device implantation. In the present study, we performed a combination of surgical graft thrombectomy and drug-coated balloon angioplasty for PFPBO without implanting any additional devices.

Bull's eye view for the display of myocardial single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) 3-D perfusion maps does not reflect left ventricular (LV) volume, an important parameter. We created and evaluated a myocardial SPECT display method that reflects the LV volume.Using Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine data, short-axis slices from the apex to the base were reconstructed and interpolated into 0.

  • AI-QCT (Artificial Intelligence Quantitative CT) is effective for identifying coronary plaque morphology, specifically low-density noncalcified plaque (LD-NCP), utilizing NIRS-IVUS (near-infrared spectroscopy-intravascular ultrasound) as a benchmark.
  • The study assessed 133 plaques from 47 patients, revealing AI-QCT's high accuracy (94%) and a strong correlation with IVUS metrics such as vessel area and plaque burden.
  • Results suggest that AI-QCT is a reliable tool for detecting significant LD-NCP, with a notable optimal volume threshold identified for improved diagnostic performance.

Background: Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is a first-line noninvasive imaging modality for evaluating coronary artery disease (CAD). Recent advances in CCTA technology enabled semi-automated detection of coronary arteries and atherosclerosis. However, there have been to date no large-scale validation studies of automated assessment of coronary atherosclerosis phenotype and coronary artery dimensions by artificial intelligence (AI) compared to current standard invasive imaging.

The transmissible capacity and toxicity of SARS-CoV-2 variants are continually changing. We report here the follow-up study of hospitalized COVID-19 patients from 2020 to 2022. It is known that the PCR diagnosis for hospitalized patients sometimes causes confusion because of the incompatibility between their diagnosis and symptoms.

We developed a simple method to investigate rheological properties of soft surfaces, such as polymeric liquids and colloidal suspensions, by capturing the images of a metal micro-needle inserted into the surface. At contact, a meniscus-like deformation is formed on the surface. By relating the shape of the deformation to the balance of applied forces, local elasticity and viscosity just inside the surface are obtained.

Identification of viruses that infects animals or plants, and determination of their quantity are essential for the diagnosis of infectious disease and for the determination of a strategy in the treatment of virus-derived diseases. However, the concentration of viruses existing in a living body (in bodily fluid), food, drinking water, river water, and so on. is not high enough to be detected using conventional diagnostic methods.

In this case, an air bubble was trapped in the mid right coronary artery and it was difficult to differentiate with calcification or thrombus. A correct diagnosis of "filling defect" is necessary because device selection is different for each case. Intravascular ultrasound is useful for differential diagnosis of calcification, thrombus, or air bubble.

Introduction: The pathophysiology and mechanism of in-stent restenosis (ISR) after implantation of second-generation drug-eluting stents (DESs) are not fully clear. We compared the morphological characteristics of ISR between first- and second-generation DESs using frequency domain optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Methods: Patients who underwent follow-up coronary angiography (CAG) after first-generation (CYPHER™ and TAXUS™) and second-generation (Nobori®, PROMUS Element™, Resolute Integrity and XIENCE) DES implantations were examined.

The contact between liquid drops and hot solid surfaces is of practical importance for industrial processes, such as thermal spraying and spray cooling. The contact and bouncing of solid spheres is also an important event encountered in ball milling, powder processing, and everyday activities, such as ball sports. Using high speed video microscopy, we demonstrate that hydrogel drops, initially at rest on a surface, spontaneously jump upon rapid heating and continue to bounce with increasing amplitudes.
