Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how different flow speeds impact upper limb muscle activity in butterfly swimmers training in a swimming flume, to improve training advice.
  • A group of ten youth female swimmers was analyzed at 70%, 80%, and 90% of their maximum speed, focusing on kinematic parameters and muscle activation during four phases of their stroke cycle.
  • Results indicated no significant variation in stroke rate and length across speeds, but notable differences in the duration of stroke phases, with specific muscles showing variations in activation timing and contribution ratios across different phases of the stroke.
